This hotel is located in the centre of Banbury near Banbury Cross. The car park is difficult to enter as it is through a narrow archway to the left of the hotel as you look at it. Reception was excellent and efficient and there is a nice open fire in the lobby. As it is an old hotel there are many staircases to negotiate to the rooms, but understandable considering the historic nature of the building.
Our room (79) was a suite which had a decent flatscreen tv in both the bedroom and the lounge. Plenty of room and a very nice comfortable large bed with twin mattresses. Ensuite was adequate and clean a bit small and in need of "tidying", some broken tiles and missing sealant. Glass shelf over the sink unit was always in the way when shaving.
Had room service, which was excellent, delivered quick. The olives and smoked almonds were £3.50 for two large bowls, good value. We asked and got fresh milk to make tea, which is a great service.
The room was facing over a grassed area at the back, it was near silent and the gardens were immaculately kept, if I visited in the summer I would want to have a walk round,
No double glazing in the room, but apart from condensation on the window, this didn't cause any problem. Water in the room.
Breakfast was excellent and the service was quick and friendly. You can use the buffet or order fish or eggs.
Receptionist helped sort out an issue with my A-Club card on checkout which was quick and easy.
Overall I would recommend this hotel and I will certainly use it the next time I'm in the area.
