I recently organised an annual dinner and dance for a small local group at this hotel and I cannot fault the experience that we had. During the period before the event when the arrangements were being made I received personal attention from the owner who went out of her way to ensure that all our needs had been identified and solutions offered and provided. This is most unusual these days as many hotels are only interested in providing a basic service and taking your money.
On the night we (75 of us) all arrived in the middle of a snow storm, some rather later than others. However the hotel was more than happy to delay the start of the meal to allow everyone to arrive and then to speed up the service so that anyone who wanted to get away quickly could do so.
The food was good, hot and well presented and there were an adequate number of waitresses so that no table had to wait for its food. The staff were efficient and courteous and we were made to feel welcome and valued.
The whole event was good value for money, well planned and efficiently delivered and I would have no hesitation in using the hotel again for similar events. I cannot comment on the accommodation as we did not use it. The only miner criticism (which did not affect us) is that people who have difficulty in walking may not find this an ideal venue as, due to the age and construction of the building, there are several flights of stairs connecting reception, the bar, the restaurant and the toilets.
