A first time stay, in two rooms for two nights. Jim & Margaret were great hosts, and the whole set up is professional and well-organised (although asking teenagers to choose breakfast options 12 hours in advance was a struggle!). The rooms were spotlessly clean, brilliantly appointed, and very, very comfortable. The house is lovely, the gardens magnificent, the food locally sourced and expertly cooked (the cakes on arrival were an unexpected and special treat). great value and thoroughly recommended. One suggestion for improvement - if possible, better (bigger, more powerful) showers in the capacious ensuite bathrooms

We were very impressed by York House. The environment was fantastic, and felt much more like an upmarket hotel than a B&B - the rooms were furnished very well, and guests are clearly the focus of the house (rather than just a side-line!). The B&B is run by a very welcoming couple who also cooked a very good breakfast. We were particularly lucky to get some very tasty home-cooked bakeries! A very impressive find.

We have been visiting York House for many years and have always been totally satisfied. Margaret and Jim Wesley make their guests very warmly welcome. The bedrooms are spotlessly clean and comfortably furnished. Breakfasts are varied and appetising. Guests are encouraged to sit in or stroll around the lovely garden. This is an ideal place to stay if one is visiting Hay for the bookshops or exploring the splendid scenery of the Welsh borders.

We are a german couple with a 12 y. old child, and stayed two nights at York House by Jim&Margaret. We were very pleased with the warm and friendly welcome and treatment. Everything was perfect: The room, the breakfast, the surroundings etc. We can give our unrestricted recommendation for this B&B.
