I was treated to a birthday weekend in Hay and stayed at Tinto House after being double booked elsewhere. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise and was much nicer than the original B+B booked ! On arrival we were settled in to the "Blue " room by our hosts which was lovely. The bathroom was particularly large and spotlessly clean, with complementary bubble bath !
Breakfast was lovely and as there are only 3 bedrooms, there is no lack of attention.
Highly recommended.

This is our second visit at Tinto House .We have all intentions to come back in 2011 again!
Situated right in the middle of Hay it is wonderful for exploring the town and just a hop away from all book shops,so you can always leave a heavy bag back before continuing the tour around the bookshops.
The rooms are stylishly decorated full of antiques , really lovely and airy!.
My favourite one is the Blue Room,overlooks the square and has a great view of the Clock Tower.
The breakfast is excellent,the owners are most pleasant -obviously enjoying their job!
This years stay were looked after by Bella and her boyfriend,who could not do enough for us.We had dinner at Tinto since they are both trained chefs, needles to mention that it was delicious,served with a great finesse,our friends and we felt totally spoiled.Thank you!You make it so easy for us to come back!

Beautiful house and lots of lovely furniture and paintings etc. However it just missed out on any form of warm welcome and the room was nice but nothing special. Breakfast was okay but again not the best we'd had by a long way. All in all it just felt like an average B & B albeit at the upper end of the market with prices to match. Location great - right in the centre of town though this did make it very noisy with traffic in the morning.

We recently spent two nights at Tinto House and loved it. The owners were considerate, friendly and happy to interact with our 7 month old baby. Our room was clean, well furnished, warm and overlooked the beautiful garden. The breakfast was excellent and it was great to have freshly cooked, piping hot scrambled eggs rather than the rubbery versions normally found on a breakfast buffet. Generous pot of tea too! If we find ourselves in the area again, we'd love to stay at Tinto House.
