We arrived on Monday evening with GB Tours to a very warm welcome and we were given our rooms which could be reached by stairs or lift. We were very pleasantly surprised by the standard of room and its size and immediately felt at home. The large double bed was very comfortable and had immaculately clean bedding on which fresh towels were laid. The decoration was of a high standard and carpet clean. The bathroom was very clean with an over-bath shower which was very easy to operate and an electric towel rail so no damp towels which was nice. The modern flat screen tv was a welcome sign after some we'd had to endure in the past. There was also a clock radio and room telephone for our use.The usual condiments tray was well stocked and were maintained each day along with fresh towels. There was more than ample storage for our clothes. Our meals were excellent both in quality and amount. Breakfast was a selection of fruit juice, cereal or porridge (nicely cooked) followed by a large traditional fry and toast, tea or coffee. We were served by Lucy, a very nice scots girl who couldn't do enough for us and always with a smile. Every day the manager would come round the tables to see if everything was alright which it always was for us. Dinner was superb with five courses, all delicious and well cooked. This was a turkey and tinsel week which coincided with St Andrews Day so haggis was on the menu presented with full ceremony headed by a piper followed by the chef. This all added to our enjoyment. The bar, though small, was well-stocked and reasonable. The entertainment in the lounge area each evening was excellent with everyone enjoying themselves, St. Andrews Day evening especially, with the traditional dancers, piper and singing compere (and now we know what's under a scotsman's kilt!) Everyone had a highly enjoyable and comfortable stay - or seemed to, which brought us together more as a group and with the very friendly staff made us look forward to staying again. Overall, the hotel and staff were excellent and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to all our friends. We will definately be booking again.
