My kids loved it.
Stayed in the hotel Jan 09. Had a great friendly welcome and no trouble with the kids.
Kids had a special menu and we were asked what they would like. Food was good home cooked, no fancy stuff and plenty. Rooms were clean and homely. My mums bathroom was a small but with the View who cares. Family room great size and proper beds..

Took a chance and stayed at hotel despitre comments dated back to 2006.
Hotel is now completely refurbished.
We had a wonderful stay. Food was well above average, staff were very helpfull. The owners of the hotel were really family orientated. Would have no hesitation in returning to the hotel later in the year and recommending to others.
The 2006 reviewers really want to try the hotel again as I am sure it is not the hotel from hell as they explained but now a hotel from Heaven.

Just returned from a 3 night trip to this hotel. Be warned it was a holiday from hell.

The room was in urgent need of upgrade and decoration, the kettle, bedside light and television didn't work. The bathroom was that small that you had to open the bathroom door to get in and out of the shower.

The food was the worst I have ever had in any hotel and the waitress although friendly was useless. We had to ask three times for everything we wanted. one night I had my main meal ten minutes before the vegatables arrived after asking several times. Very often the tables where not set and your meal would be brought but no cutlery until you asked.

Worst off all was the Friday and Saturday nights when loud music was played until well after midnight. Not I might add for the hotel guests but for the locals, infact on the Saturday night all the tables in the lounge had reserved on them for the locals and the guests had to sit in the conservatory with the door open to allow the smokers in and out. One of the locals said that they used the hotel because it was the only one in the area that allowed children in which was obvious with the amount of under tens running round.

The only good part was the breakfast of the Sunday morning when the chef didn't turn in and the owner cooked breakfast. You could actualy eat it.

Please don't go the hotel is scruffy not very clean and very, very noisy.

Stayed in this hotel for one night in July 2006. Room was grotty. Window would not close properly; had to stuff toilet paper in it to stop draught coming in. Toilet seat was unstable. Shower not very clean, as was rest of ensuite. Food was mediocre, with virtually no choice at all! Only heating in our room was an old convector heater which had seen better days, and the public areas were heated by portable calor gas super ser heaters!! Certainly not one for the faint hearted. Take my advice - give this one a wide berth.
