“Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

From the moment Myself and my colleagues arrived at the abbots brea hotel we knew we were in for a real treat, the surroundings are lovely, we actually saw a deer as we travelled up the winding driveway, the building is a pleasure on the eye, classic, warm and very inviting. We met Colin who is a lovely guy, great host, and who also makes quite stunning food!
In our stay i must say that we were very well looked after. Christine his wife was also very welcoming, and is a fantastic host. I am sure that if something wasn't to our taste everything would have been done to rectify this (not that there was an opportunity for this to happen).
Our room was lovely, very clean and with stunning views of the bay, both sunrise and sunset were a joy to behold, the bed very comfortable, the bathroom was to a very high standard, also we has a flat screen hdtv with free view, with dvd player (a wide collection of dvd's were available to use from Colin and Christine).
Ok now the food, quite simply WOW! Being there for almost two weeks I had a chance to try alot of the dishes, these included fillet steak, beef curry, duckling, minted lamb, a stunning chicken and ham pie, all came with a good helping of fresh veg and were fantastic, made from local fresh ingredients, and you could tell! my diet went right out the window!
The starters were imaginative, and a fantastic appetiser, the sweets were also lovely, my personal favourite was the sticky toffie pudding, yum, also local cheese and biscuits were available, all fresh and Colin knew where all of these were from, very nice!
all in all i would recommend the Abbots Brea very highly, and i will certainly be returning again, not for business, but definitely for pleasure.

“Pure relaxation and stunning views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Absolutely lovely hotel in a beautiful area of Scotland. The customer service is excellent with Colin and Christine being very friendly and attentive hosts. We were kindly upgraded to a sea view room which was very spacious and of course had a wonderful view. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel were delicious. Overall a fab place to stay!!

“Best hogmany ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We stayed here for our first hogmany together and can say it was definetly the best way to spend it, everything about this stay was amazing! arrived on hogmany and were greeted by the most friendly and welcoming couple (the owners) and were shown to our room which had everything you would ever need including a very large double bed! and invited down for afternoon tea and cakes. Everything about the hotel was perfect and just what we were looking for. The hogmany dinner was outstanding and it was made very clear that if things on the menu werent quite to our taste we could have it altered if possible. Food was mouth-watering! After the meal the owners had prepared a Mr and Mrs quiz for anyone that would like to play before the count down to the bells and what a laugh we had, the owners made sure everyone was comfortable and sorted for drinks, we then counted down to the bells and sang the traditional auld lang syne which was very sweet! We were then taken outside for a fire work display which was lovely and very romantic! Had the perfect hogmany! New years day was just lovely, after a full scottish breakfast we went out a nice walk together and came back to afternoon tea and played some board games in the lounge. New years dinner was of the same high standard and afterwards we just retired to our room and watched a film on tv afterwards. After another full scottish breakfast it was time to say good-bye and we were very sad to be leaving. Would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone, without fault !!

“Now we have to go back again and again”

By far the best place we stayed in on our Christmas holiday. Everything there was just perfect - from the first impression and greetings from Colin and Christine, to the amazingly prepared meals, to the little details like after-meal mint-choc's and tea / coffee. The room we stayed in was luxuriously spacious and comfortable, with a wonderful view of the sea. The only problem with staying there was that all the other places we stayed in afterwards seemed dull and miserable by comparison. Can we go back there soon, please?
