I spent 4 nights at the Mayfair Guesthouse in early June 2010 and am so pleased that I chose this establishment over other guest houses in Dunoon. The spacious Victorian house dates from around 1859 and enjoys a commanding location half way up a short residential road about a mile from the centre of Dunoon, in Kirn, on the road to nearby Holy Loch. A number of the bedrooms afford splendid views across the Firth of Clyde, my room included. Accommodation is spacious and well maintained. I found that nothing was too much trouble for my hosts Dennis and Jenny Grayson, and although this charming couple came originally from Manchester, they have built up a wealth of knowledge about the best places to visit on the surrounding Cowal Peninsula and beyond. Finally the best till last: Dennis cooks a truly scrumptious Scottish breakfast which is assured of satisfying the hungriest of guests. I should happily recommend the Mayfair to anybody visiting Cowal.
