“Pleasant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

I stayed here recently.

The rooms are fine, the shower good, The bed comfortable.

Breakfasts were not particularly fast. I do wonder whether they had the "A" Team for breakfasts as I believe we were the only guests. The evening meal was very good. My colleagues who were drinking were happy with the wine and beers too.

The location of this hotel is excellent for a holiday given that the beach is a matter of yards (metres ?) away. There is some parking available but you need to hope that other drivers are considerate as it is a little limited. It is also an easy drive from the motorway network.

I did get a little disturbed on one night due to some loud drunks passing by.

The bar downstairs seemed quite well frequented. There was a group playing on the first night I was there. There is also an elderly dog, called Cara, who is as friendly and loveable as you could hope for. There are also some parrots who can be talkative during the day.

“We enjoyed each others company far more than our nights` stay in this expensive, noisy and rather tatty hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

We should have smelled a rat that this was the only hotel in the area with three rooms available for a Saturday night in August. The website looks so much better than the reality. Our room at the top of the hotel was refurbished but the wafer thin walls gave us no sleep as our neighbours were laughing and talking until the early hours. The noise from the bar downstairs also went on long into the night. Our room was quite comfortable and once we were asleep, we slept well, but there were just so many basic requirements that seemed to be missing like a toaster in the room rather than a hairdryer. The other two rooms were extremely basic and rather shoddy and lacked basic requirements like a shower curtain and had only one towel for two adults and two children! Breakfast was charged as an optional extra and was well cooked but the branflakes had obviously been around for a while. To be fair the hotel is undergoing refurbishment at the moment, but even making allowances for that, it was frankly tatty and overpriced and we did really object to being asked to pay our bill the moment we arrived after a long and exhausting day. We would be prepared to stay again as the staff were pleasant and provided a cot for one of the rooms, but only if there was a radical refurbishment and reduction in noise..

“Poor Value”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2010

Situated on a main road, very busy all evening, no net curtains and double decker buses passing by so you have to close the curtains very early. Poorly attended, no-one around to let me out in the morning. Poor value compared to other local hotels I have stayed in locally.
Restaurant wasn't open when I stayed

“WONDERFUL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2009

I am very impressed with this hotel. Check in was nice and easy and I was upgraded for free by the lovely assistant manger Vicky.
She was very friendly and efficiant and recommended a couple of places to eat which we took her up on. The Mexican restaurant down the road. We stayed in room 41, which was at the top, but well worth it.
We had to let Vicky down for breakfast the following morning. She was very understanding. For being employed here for such a short period of time she was fantastic.
Allltogther I found it fantastic value and the customer service was excellent. Why can't more places have such friendly staff?
We shall definately stay again.
