Had forgotten about this place but chanced upon its name when looking for a hotel in the region and happened to read other reviews so thought I'd put my tuppence worth in.
I read about the place on the hotels site and thought it sounded nice - only wanted somewhere to stay for a night whilst visiting a friend in hospital.
First impressions were poor. Reception dingy, dirty carpet, smell of rot. Then the room....
The wallpaper barely kept in the crumbling plaster. The room stank of rot, there were three beds in the room, all with stained candlewick-type bedspreads. The room contained a small, rickety, stained table, presumably for the English breakfast to be placed upon.
The bathroom was a nightmare - fixtures and fittings were old, worn and of very poor quality. No towels or soap.
There was a small parking space at the rear of the hotel - not secure by any means.
The owner was obnoxious - when I asked a reasonable question about the breakfast coffee, i.e. was it 'proper' or instant, he became abusive.
We decided we could not stay in such a poor quality establishment and left. We found a pleasant room at the Best Western Clifton and had an enjoyable evening and night there.
The Banque should be closed down or sued under the Trades Descriptions Act.
