This hotel is nicely located on the clifftops overlooking the Channel at Folkestone, just above the Leas.
The hotel itself is a bit dated. It looks as though the last refurbishment was made somewhere in the late 70's or early 80's. However, I found the room to be perfectly acceptable. There are no luxuries to be expected. There is no A/C in the room, instead all the rooms are equipped with a fan. This might prove to be a bit inefficient on very warm days and nights. The bed was a bit soft for my liking, but acceptable for the one night we stayed there.
The staff were all friendly and tried hard to please. There were a couple of quirks in the service, though. For instance, we came to the hotel a bit late and wanted a sandwich. They stopped serving these in the bar at 9:15 pm, so you had to order them from reception. They could still serve them in the bar and the bar itself was open and staffed, so we couldn't really work out why we couldn't order our sandwiches at the bar directly.
The location of the hotel is good for the views offered, but bad for the parking. The hotel has no car park of it's own for the guests, so you are confined to on-street parking in the area. We had to go about 5 blocks away to find a spot. Only afterwards did we realise there is an underground car park in the next block (which the staff at the hotel unfortunately didn't tell us about). So if you go, ask them about the Leas Hall car park and they should be able to direct you there.
Breakfast at the hotel was good. We didn't try the cooked breakfast (£10.50), but opted for the continental instead (£8.50) and this was fine.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay here and would certainly consider staying here again for a night or so. If you are staying for a longer period in the area, there are probably nicer places to go.
