“we liked it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2011

i with five of my friends all from Sheffield went to Huddersfield for a night out. stayed in this hotel ignoring all the privious rewiews, I am glad we did. staff were friendly, rooms were not bad for the price, two minute walk from everything Huddersfield has got to offer, went down to the Italian restaurant next door, recommended by the staff, enjoyed the food. In morning we went down to the same restaurant for breakfast, it was very nice, my girlfriend had hangover and waiter gave her some tablets, we could not have asked for moor.

THANK YOU HUDDERSFILD

“Totally acceptable for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2011

Got the double room for £44 for the night. The hotel is easy to find and in a good position if you are staying in Huddersfield centre. We had a gig to attend at the Parish and it couuldn't have been closer. There is a car park opposite that is free from 6pm Saturday night till noon Sunday so it suited us fine.
Reception was very friendly and helpfull.Got a room on the second floor. There is a small lift but it is a bit of a rabbit warran in the little alley ways leading to our room but no problem for us with only over night bags.
The room was big and very clean,it could have done with up-dating but it was perfectly acceptable.Plenty of tea/coffes and fresh towells.I have no complaints what-so-ever.Our friends stayed at the hotel next door and paid £34 each so thought we had a bit of a bargain at £44 for both as we only slept in the place.
So it depends on what you want if you expect luxury you won't get it ...but if you want a cheap clean place to stay the night there are no problems at all.

“Dont read the reviews.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2011

Me and two of my friends planned on coming to huddersfield to stay for a couple of nights for personal reasons, we needed a place to stay and it ended up being the huddersfield hotel. I couldnt find any sites for it except ones like this one, giving bad reviews and general feeling of it being a terrible hotel, amd so i went with very low expectations. My opinion was then changed around. Fair enough the room isnt a 5 star hotel room, but its comfy, warm, homely.. all of those and more. There's nothing wrong with it at all, and the staff are the most friendliest staff i have met. We stayed 6 nights and i had frequent conversations with them, and they are more than welcoming.
Also, my friends and i age between 19-22, so its fit for anyone.
Don't listen to the bad reviews.

“Not a good experience - wouldn't go back”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2010

I had to attend a conference in Huddersfield, and this hotel was very close to the train station, so it seemed ideal. Well, the location is good, but not much else unfortunately. The staff weren't particularly friendly, the room was long overdue refurbishment, and the cleaning staff don't appear to do a very thorough job here.

I got a reasonable night's sleep, but I was very glad that I was only there for one night - the dingy room was far from homely. I suppose the price was OK, and the location is obviously great, but I can't say many other positive things about the hotel. If you need to stay in Huddersfield, there are probably better alternatives.

“looks can be deceiving”

i stayed 2 nights at the huddersfield hotel while i was in town on a training course. my first impressions of the lobby were ok, it looked nicely lit up the staff were friendly and it was clean. there was even a porter availale to carry my bag if i wished. the lift had what could only be described as having an unusual odour! upon finding my room i opened the door to see what was a fairly reasonable sized bedroom. it was when i looked closer that the problems appeared. i went into the bathroom and was met with a full bin which had used sanitary towels in it, always nice, as i walked across the dirty floor to the bath there was a disgusting mouldy residue on the shower curtain, the tap was dripping constantly, several of the tiles were cracked, the toilet roll was nearly empty and the toilet had what i can only refer to as a "skidmark" in it. i turned the tap on in the sink to see if everything worked and the plastic tap handle fell off! i then went into the bedroom where i instantly noticed a dirty tissue on the floor by the bed (this being the bed you walked past to get into the room) god knows how the cleaner missed it. there was a kettle with some tea and coffee facilities with it, the very kind previous occupant had left me a cup of tea! it was just a shome that it was cold and had gone to syrup in the bottom of the cup. there was no spoon which was a bit odd cos surely if the cleaner took it away they would have got me a clean cup too? when i tried looking out of the mindow everything was a bit blurry due to the amount of grease on the inside and out. i finally opened my window to see that opposite me was a lapdancing bar, a few doors down was a gun shop, there was a very noisy major road junction next to me. to top all of that off, the noise from the bar was terrible. to escape all of this i decided to go for a walk to get something to eat, to my horror i stepped out of the hotel only to be accosted by a smelly drunken tramp who wanted me to give him some money, when i said no he then told me to f##k off and sat on the pavement outside. So in conclusion i can tell you that i have never stayed in such a disgusting place in all my life and will never ever go back and i would advise you not to either.
