it would appear that there has been a change of management here judging from how the reviews have changed over time.What a shame they aren't listening.My experience included being unable to make a booking by phone as no-one ever answered the phone so that when i booked and paid on line my request for a twin room was not 'apparently' received. On arrival this was made into my fault and i in the end resolved it by arranging for my son to stay on the floor of relatives. needless to say i was not offered a discount. And the room-small, very cold, a tv with 3 channels which were all fuzzy and soap in the bathroom was a bar cut in half! The bar and restaurant are pretty but i didnt eat there other than a breakfast which was fine.

on a recent trip to the woodman (which was recommended to us,) my wife and i were impressed by the location,
the food was good but pricey!!
the inn is in our opinion a gem, only to be let down by the poor quality of the ladies and gents toilets.
the gents i can only describe as(scruffy) with a roller blind in the window with paint on it,
a smell, due to the fan which didn't work, a loose toilet seat .and no soap on our visit
the pub is 3 STARS the toilets are 1 STAR

I was given a very warm Yorkshire welcome, the staff were very friendly and helpful my twin bedded room was comfortable large enough and warm. I ate in the restuarant my first night and although there were several people there the food arrived very quickly and was perfectly cooked. The service was very good and the atmoshere relaxed and friendly.

Breakfast my first morning was brilliant because even though they had run out of beans and black pudding they served me with double bacon, egg and sausage which more than made up for the lack. Altogether it was such a pleasant experience that I have no hesitation in booking again but this time I'm taking my husband

On arrival we waited to be tended to, then were seated away from all other dinners (I think because we had 2 children). The service was slow at best, 2 of us ordered Steak & Ale Pie on recommendation from the bar tender & priced at nearly £13 I thought it would be good quality meat, WRONG!!! It was full of fat, sinue, & never seen ale. We had ordered organic fish goujons from the kids menu for my 1 year old & 4 year old, that came in the shape of battered haddock, fair enough, not bothered aslong as it was nice, when i started to cut it up for the youngest i found 4 bones in it. Bit suprised but still not feeling the need to write about my experiance. We finished our meal with no service check back, then when the rude waitress came to clear our plates, with no conversation or asked if we enjoyed our meal. I had to bring her attention to the bones, just to say I would have thought they would be more careful with the childrens meals, her reply was it's fresh fish you know you get bones in fresh fish.. I'll inform the Chef. Well after 15 years of being in catering i never thought to serve fish full of bones just because it was fresh. ( This was the last time we saw the waitress) the bar tender finished clearing our table. We waited for maybe an apology or an explaination about the bones, (that really was all we wanted, somebody to say sorry,) because if i'd not found the bones my son probably would have choked on them. When we paid i mentioned to the bar man that we was wondering if the waitress was coming back, he'd obviously been informed, because his abrupt & cocky response was it's impossible to get all the bones out!!!

NO IT'S NOT, & if a mistake is made just say sorry instead of being rude. We drove around for 40 minutes to find somewhere nice to go for lunch. We didn't find it & will never return or recommend this place
