“Good bed, Clean linnen - Filthy Bathroom.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2010

The last review still stands! Tired and in need of updating still applies. Its also next to a run down deralict corner which didnt inspire confidence. As it was during summer it was warm and stuffy inside the room with no fan, opened the wndows to enjoy the sound of rumbling articulated lorries. The paint on the walls just looked tired, above the radiator were dirty heat marks, all over the room were chipped paint. The bed was comfy and the sheets were crisp and clean, no complaints there. Moving into the bathroom though is were it really fell down. Black mouldy grout, grubby bath and a chipped and cracked sink convinced us to cut our 2 day stay into 1 and we left the next morining.

Refunded without any fuss, but never asked why, perhaps the receptionist allready knew?

The most recent report ie tacky and needs updating was my view 18 months ago - this place is tired and so close to main road. Stay at the newly built Premire lodge half mile away - Much higher quality

“Absolutely fine for a short stay...”

The Travelodge is situated just off Leeds Road (A62) and shares the relatively small site with both a petrol station and a Little Chef (menu card available in room). Over the other side of the building is Huddersfield Road (the A644) and the junction of the two roads where they join form a "v-shape." The location of the hotel is within the V and near to it's point. To the rear of the premises is a residential area; Manor Park.

There is a small car park to the front of the hotel that can comfortably contain approximately 10 vehicles, which bearing in mind the size of the hotel itself appeared to be suffiicent during my stay, though I would wonder if the carpark for the Little Chef is also used in peak periods...

Check-in was swift and straight-forward and although I was given a room that almost overlooked the busy Huddersfield Road, the noise was minimal with the window closed. The room itself was standard Travelodge with a bed, sofa-bed, TV desk and en-suite bathroom. The furniture was looking a bit tired, abused and overall in need of refurbishment/replacement. The bathroom also had a heated mirror.

The location is close to the M62 and subsequently the M1/A1(M), so has ideal transport links.

My overall opinion is that this Travelodge is exactly what it's meant to be - short-stay accomodation, and is totally suitable for this purpose, although it would be nice if Travelodge HQ chucked a bit of cash towards maintenance.

“Standard Travelodge”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2009

A very standard if slightly worn Travelodge situated near a very busy road. Next to a Little Chef & petrol station. Room was clean and basic. We stayed on a very warm evening but it was impossible to sleep with the windows open due to road noise. But noise was minimal when windows were closed.
Only saw one member of staff who was very friendly and helpful and granted our request for a room on the other side of the building away from the road.
The Three Nuns pub is across the road which offers 2 for 1 on main meals.
We paid a bargain £19 but would not stay here if paying the full price.

“Great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2009

As with all travelodge's blue decor, crisp clean sheets and towels.

This lodge is a bit worn, mould on seal around bath, bathroom flooring grubby and bed settee for my daughter well past it's best but for the price paid it was adequate and for 1 night no cause for complaint.

We drove into Mirfield on Huddersfield Road to the Kashmir restaurant that was a different story not licensed so the Bargain Booze next door will do a roaring trade. The staff were very informative, no kids portions or much choice on the english dishes so our daughter was recommended the chicken and chips, for just over £4 is was an enormous portion, especially after she tucked into our popodoms. The meals were plentyful and delicious. Cheese Nan a must. By the time we left just before 8 the restaurant was in full swing and barely a table free, obviously a favourite with the locals. We would definately go again on our next stay at the Travelodge.
