I have traveled to London last month for business and stayed at the Days Hotel twice during the same trip (one night during the week and then two nights the following weekend).
We arrived in Luton airport and took a taxi to the hotel which cost us about 9 pounds.
The hotel is very comfortable, with nice, accommodating staff offering basic service, good value for money. We arrived at 8 am and were almost certain that we would either have to pay extra to check in early or wait until the check in time. Surprisingly, Beth (I think, sorry, if I don;t remember correctly), the front desk agent on duty was able to check us in! For us, traveling all night, it meant the world at that time.
The downside was that even if the hotel advertises free internet in the brochure of the chain that is put in the room, there is no free internet everywhere. You have to pay, even in the lobby.
The rooms are comfortable, clean with good heating. Like some of you noticed in your reviews, the rooms at the front, near the street are pretty noisy even with the window closed so we asked for a room in the back for the weekend and the staff was nice and accommodated us. We had dinner one night in the restaurant which offers a basic menu and it was ok, as well as the breakfast which was plenty with a variety of cold and hot dishes to choose from.
In Luton the location of the hotel is very good. It is within walking distance from a shopping mall (about 5 mins.) and from the train station (about 8 mins). We also rented a car from a local car rental place nearby.
The only downside to all this was the distance from Luton to London. Of course, nothing to do with the hotel, but if you have business to attend to in London, I would nor recommend staying in Luton. Of course it is cheaper, but the train to get to London takes about 30 - 50 minutes, depending on how busy it is and also it is very expensive.
Just a tip for first time travelers, rooms in London and in the surrounding areas are much cheaper in the weekends than during the week so plan accordingly if you can.
Room Tip: Ask for the rooms that are not facing the main street. They are noisy.
