“A warm welcome and good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2009

Owing to a death in the family, we had to find a hotel in a town that we didn't know, and ask for a bit of leeway given that funerals are not always arranged to suit the mourners. The Pines Hotel let us check in early and change out of travelling clothes with no problems.

The room on the top floor had plenty of space for 3 with an ensuite bedroom and the beds were very comfortable. The room as a little bit tired but everything worked and the hot water and shower pressure were good. The bed linen was crisp and clean.

The hotel has a public bar on the ground floor, but we were never disturbed by any noise from this area.

Breakfast the next morning was unhurried and copious. The friendly lady who cooked breakfast made sure that she could accommodate my dietary requirements and patiently answered all my questions! I had as good a cooked breakfast as my family, with no problems of sugar or excess fats!

We had a very positive experience here and would be happy to return for a stay in the future. The only negative thing is that we used viamichelin to produce a map from the airport, and found that the roads had changed the week we arrived. It also feels substantially further out from the centre of Luton than the map calculates it to be!

“Nice staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2007

The room was very small, and although it stated there was a hairdryer....there wasn't. However the staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived after the kitchen had closed, but they went and made us up some sandwiches, which were really nice, and huge (good value).

The annoyance was that it states to be only 8 minutes from the airport, when in fact it is more like 12 to 15, and that was by a taxi travelling really fast.

“A Bit Dissapointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2007

We stayed at the Pines Hotel in February 2007. The room was clean but extremely small and there was a constant greasy cooking smell in the room. Maybe there wouldn't have been a smell in a different room?
The meal we had in the evening was mixed, my steak was nice but my husband's mixed grill and our relatives fish was overcooked. Breakfast next day was ok but the old woman serving was very miserable, previous staff the day before had been friendly.

All things considered for the area the price was ok just don't expect too much. C & J

“think elsewhere if its a saturday .”

this hotel advertises a smart dining room and bar and so we booked to find they never open their dining room to guests on a saturday night nor did their bar have any food.
there is a large sign outside advertising both to cap the point, fundamentally our reservation was taken under false pretences.
we tried to find the manager but reception told us he is usually hard to find.
if you stay at this hotel you will be supporting everything that is bad in british hotels..and its a third more than most in price.
whatever was going on in the dining room, clearly some sort of function,it actually had not ended by 4.30 am and our room was right above it.....you will understand why we are anxious to let anyone else know that the hotel has no standards and should be avoided.
