“A beautiful place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

We only stayed 1 night as a quick getaway from London, and it was totally worth it!

We had a really nice dinner at the bar, which is actually spectacular: The whole building got an amazing atmosphere and is really clean and well look after. The room was also spotless with an amazing fourposter bed.

We had a beautiful view over the village straight on to the sea in the morning from our window - what else could you ask for?

The tasty English breakfast was served on really hot plates with coffee, orange juice, muesli with milk and hot toast on the side - yummie!

“Great Food, Friendly Atmosphere!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

I haven't stayed here as I live not far away but I can highly recommend the food and friendliness of the Kildare. There is a huge choice of meals and the service has been great whether I've been with 4 or 20 people, always served on hot plates, all at the same time no matter how big the party. The puds are very good too if you can fit one in! Everything is cooked beautifully and the prices are not too expensive, much better value for money than some other local restaurants. In my experience, you will always have a nice welcome and very tasty food. It is a beautiful old building too. I haven't tried Sunday lunch yet but have heard very good things so hope to give it a go soon!

“Excellent food, great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011

This hotel, interesting in itself built in the Arts & Crafts style, has a restaurant and bar open to the public and is really welcoming and convivial. There is a wide and interesting menu of dishes cooked on the premises with some seafood and a few international dishes but mainly the best of British fare.
I was encouraged to eat there by hearing the number of locals who do so regularly and praise the standard of food highly. Always a good indicator.
The food is very good and the portions very large. The atmosphere is friendly and both bar & restaurant comfortable with plenty of space to eat in comfort or to sit and relax after your meal. The bar meals are equally as good and enormous as the restaurant but with a smaller, simpler menu.
The bar serves a selection of good ales as well some traditional ones. On hot days it opens onto a small sunny garden with tables outside. Part of its attraction is if you don't wish to join the lively chatter by the bar the area below it has a huge open fire & comfortable seating.
Situated off the main road (where the usual range of pubs and resturants are) it is still within easy walking distance or a cheap taxi ride so that all can have a drink with their meal.

Excellent service in clean comfortable surroundings. Breakfast was lovely - our bed was quality. We were lucky to have a bath and walk in shower with our room so will be returning
