We travelled with a full coach party from South East England. The hotel is situated in a good position for the seafront view and also for railway enthusiasts who wish to go on the steam train. Our room on the first floor was very spacious, clean, warm and with comfortable beds (3 in all so an ideal family room.) There was no shower in the bathroom, only the bath which was a disadvantage and the door would not close properly. The two tub chairs were rather worn and needed updating. Pictures on the wall of local scenes were so old that they had faded out to a blue only colour. Flat screen Tv provided us with a good picture and wide choice of channels. Ample provision to make hot beverages all on a shelf at a sensible working height! Reception area was again rather "tired" and outdated, but yet had a homely feel. There is no lift in the hotel, so less agile members of our group were accommodated on the ground floor. Evening meal was served in the carvery. Choice of two starters and choice of two meats or vegetarian. Generous portions and ample choice of at least six vegetables - all very nicely cooked. Choice of dessert was very good and followed by coffee or tea. Breakfast with fruit juices, cereals, prunes and figs and choice of yoghourt. Full English breakfast was again ample and well served. Make your own toast on the machine as required. The staff were always very helpful and efficient. Entertainment on Saturday and Sunday also provided in the evening. To sum up. . . all in all an enjoyable weekend, with only some of the minor points mentioned would have improved it.
