My expectations of hiltons were lowered after visiting both the Hiltons in Newbury. I propose that they create a new Hilton brand for these lower end 'luxury travelodge' style hotels.

This Hilton is actually by the motorway on the edge of a service station at a junction. Nevertheless the price of the hotel is as high as the rather excellent 4* star hotels in Newbury. The Donnington Valley for example is only 5 minutes by car further off the motorway. The hotel is infinitely better in all areas.

The place has been refurbished but really it can't compete with room size, service, pool size, food, value at all with either Donnington Valley or Regency Park.

I know many people come here regularly for work in Newbury because of hilton reward points. After all it is a hilton and therefore there is a steady trade of point hungry guests. The hotel is not dirty, it is acceptable to stay here and if you can handle getting less value, not have as good food, or rooms then why not come here.

Hilton North is the better Hilton out of the two. The other one called Newbury Central is another 15 minute drive into town. I will save my kind words for that Hotel seperately.

I stayed here for one night recently. The hotel is situated in a motorway services ... sort of ... wedged between the M4 and the A34. No real complaints. Good gym and pool/sauna/steam room area. Room was OK is a little basic.

I was scheduled to spend two nights here for work, I changed it to one night. the staff was ok, the lady told me my room was on the first floor when it was actually on the second. There is no elevator. The hotel is old and as a Hilton Diamond member, my room had 2 SINGLE beds. I haven't slept in a single bed since college. The gym was ok, small and belonged to another business but there was a good size pool. the food in the restaurant was ok at best and the staff were friendly. I would not stay here again, since I literally checked out of the Renaissance St Pancras in London the night before and this was a stopover for work. I'd rather stay in Reading at their Hilton.

Hotel was clean, fairly decent standard and the sleep quality was ok. I had a guy snoring in the room next to me one night and I had to use ear plugs. It's probably one of the best hotels around Newbury so I'll probably come back. The gym is ok, it was very cold and I had to ask them to turn down the airconn every time, 15 degrees is quite cold... The big letdown was the breakfast, it was quite bad. Save £10 and have breakfast elsewhere.
