I am a local living in the area so i honestly wouldn't know what the hotel side of things was like,so i cannot comment. However i quite often come here on a Sunday for my carvery lunch and it is ALWAYS superb,and always has been of the highest standard,the selection is huge,it is beautifully cooked,nicely presented and good value.I base these findings on the fact that i have lived in this area for over twenty years and in that time i have tried all of the other pubs/restaurants in the area. I am in no way deriding any other place,because there are some wonderful pubs in this area,but the Ivanhoe Sunday carvery is the best by a country mile.

What a difference having a new landlord and lady makes. Gary and June couild not have been more welcoming, their staff were all friendly, approachable and amenable. The accomodation was spotless and comfortable, the food was great, and if they don't have what you want on the menu, they will gladly make you what they can (I have food allergies!) The only drawback was that we stayed for only one night, but we will definitely be returning, and for longer.

Whilst visiting family and friends over the Christmas break I revisited The Ivanhoe.
I also had a couple of meals there, what a diference between the now New Landlord Garry and his team and the previous Landlady Liz.,her so called manageress and team. I wish him luck in 2011
The pub was cleaner, Food nicely presented and value for money.
My last visit was July 2010 and before that I was a thrice weekly visitor since 2000 until 2009 when it was owned by Les and Lynne Price. God Bless his Sole
My visit last summer was a disapointment, as the Pub was Filthy with windows and tables that had chewing gum underneath the edges, filthy toilets and had not been cleaned for at least 6months.
This was mentione to the manageress who could not be bothered to note my comments, but said " we cannot get staff" and the Licensee was not interested as she might not be staying.
I asked as the pub was very quiet could she not do some cleaning whilst waiting for customers. her reply Said it All "I am the assistant manager I do not clean windows".
I will be visiting The Ivanhoe later this year.

We returned today after having an overnight stay.We found all staff very wecoming and nothing was too much trouble.Our family room was very comfortable and clean with a warm atmosphere. Our evening meal was excellent in ever respect as was our breakfast we were offered cereal and fruit juice which was plentiful, followed by a full english. We shall most certainly be returning at the earliest opportunity.
