Hubby & I enjoyed a lovely couple of days (without the kids) in Scarborough. We stayed at Alexandra House with hosts Carol & Dave and were looked after very well. A much loved house in a super location & a fab breakfast. We will definately recommend to family & friends and might even bring the kids along next time!

We are writing to recommend Alexandra House unreservedly. Our stay couldn't really be bettered as our two rooms were spacious and with really excellent showers; the welcome from Carol (and ,later, Dave) was friendly and very efficient; and the breakfast was one of the very best we have experienced anywhere regardless of cost. Nice touches were the high quality snacks and drinks provided in our rooms, the locally-sourced breakfast ingredients, the decent room television, and the exceptionally helpful approach of the owners: parking advice, late-night return, slightly late departure(daughter overslept in other bedroom!) all no problem and they even went to find our car to return a belt we had left behind!
The only people who could be disappointed would be those who could only accept a modern, impersonal chain-hotel: Alexandra House is not ultra-modern with everything brand-new, but in our view it was all the better for it, being a lovely, characterful and well-appointed Victorian property.
Also, you can park easily and safely and you can walk to the cliff paths down to the sea in two minutes. We stay in hotels frequently in most price ranges and the value for money offered here is exceptional.

Hosts Carol and Dave friendly and accomodating. Room good size clean and tidy.with very nice cookies and a good selection of teas & coffee. Breakfast brilliant and plenty of selection. Good location near to beach lift & spa.

On returning from a trip to Whitby, my boyfriend and I wanted a one night stay in Scarborough. After most places telling us they wouldn't take us for just one night, we were happy to find Alexandra House.
We were pleasently surprised by the guest house, with our room and bathroom being of a nice size.
In addition, David and Carol made us feel very welcome, by giving us recommendations of nice resteraunts in the area.
They even told us they had a fridge in the dining room for us to store wine/other drinks in if we wished, which we did, and they even gave us two wine glasses.
The breakfast was excellent, with all food being locally sourced. A lovely touch was the pastries and fruit salad. We would definitely go back, and plan to return with out families!
