“clean budget stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

stayed here for 2 nights via a 'GROUPON' booking. happy with what we got for the money paid, we paid £79 for the 2 nights although the groupon was values at £175. the room we stayed in was one of the refurbished rooms, good effort and mostly clean although i think a little more attention to detail could have been made, little dusty in parts. the throw and cushions on the bed were faux fur, big no-no i think for a hotel, just made me think how often they would get washed?? other than that bedding was clean and we slept well although room slightly cold at times and walls very thin, could here next door rooms every toilet flush (and other sounds from the toilet!!) . we ate breakfast (continental) but weren't overly impressed with this either but it was ok, glad we didnt upgrade to a cooked breakfast. staff however in this hotel were VERY friendly and helpful, customer service is excellent and this was really the hotels strength. OVERALL i would recommend this hotel if you would like a cheap budget break and you can get your room at the right price :)

Room Tip: go for a refurbished room

Thank you for your review. As with all reviews we take on board everything that is said. With regards to the comment on the cushions and throw, I can confirm that these are regularly washed. With reference to the comment about our continental breakfast, I find it disheartening that you weren’t pleased with what we had on offer, our review previous to yours from another guest lists the wide variety of items on offer and we find that the majority of guests are very pleased with what is available.
We hope you will decide to come and see us again in the near future.
Regards - Helen Dean

“Good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

If you are wanting somewhere not expensive then I would recommend this hotel. The room was small but clean and had everything you needed, tea and coffee, shower, lots of hot water and a comfortable bed.
The staff are helpful and friendly and parking on site is certainly an advantage.
The breakfast was delicious with decent coffee, herbal or traditional teas and good quality jams/marmalades. There is a choice of various cooked breakfasts, continental breads, cheeses and meats as well as a good selection of cereals.
We would have no problem with staying here again.

“Great Place”

We stayed here last week end, we weren't certain what to expect having read some of the reviews. We loved it. Our room was small but well decorated and furnished ( the Africa Room), it was warm and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was also spotless, the plastic shower did the job, creaked a bit when you stood in it though. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful with a choice of english, well cooked and served hot, or continental, we had both.
We would come back like a shot.

“Fantastic place”

This is the most friendly, clean and comfortable place I have ever stayed. My 9 year old daughter and husband found the Games room fantastic. The staff here cannot do enough to help and are always smiling. The off road parking was great and just 10 mins walk to the town centre and sea front. I would most definately recommend to friends and family and have already booked to stay again.

“Lovely!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

We stayed here as a couple for two nights (18th -20th November 11) and found this was a lovely place to stay for what we needed. All the staff including the owners were extremley pleasant and friendly and more than willing to help. I had to cancel due to personal circumstances within a week of arrival and re-book the night before arrival and faced no problems with this. Confirmation was sent promptly each time via e-mail.
The cost for a two night stay including breakfast was excellent and the hotel was very good for such a price.
The room was that of any typical British hotel room (the website does state that you may not get those that are shown) and was clean with very comfortable beds and tea and coffee making facilities, TV and a maid service. There was a radiator in the room which we were able to turn up and down ourselves. There was also a large carpark offering free parking which is definately a bonus for Scarborough.
The location does not offer good views but who wants to sit in looking out the window? It is however only about an 5-8 minute walk down to the harbour meaning it is quiet but still close to the seaside and the same into the town. We were able to hear some noise from children next door but this is a family hotel.
We had full English breakfasts which were very, very nice and there was also a choice of cereal and fruit in addition.
As a couple who were out most of the day, this hotel suited us well for a couple of nights.
