Not sure why most people here are giving this hotel such good reviews.
First room offered was tiny, alternative was better. Two cobwebs and one spider otherwise quite clean. No table lamps in our room meant removing bulbs from the main light to cosy it up a little. Floors creaked everywhere. Great views of the harbour. Evening meal was bland, soup starter followed by beef and veg. Never got to have desert as the waiting staff never came back to our table after we had finished our main course. Being stuck in the window with everyone else while the rest of the dining room was empty did annoy us, like goldfish in a bowl. I bought a bottle of wine for our room which I was charged £11 for, it was terrible quality. Owner was nice and pleasant.
Breakfast was 8am to 9am, a bit early for a Sunday. The full English was nice but the coffee was way too strong. The service was adequate. We will not go there again but we have stayed in worse. It just seemed so old and tired, the smell of the kitchen wafting up the stairs to our room and the myriad of doors to corridors which creaked all the time. As for the lift, well we used it once and once was enough. Honestly it was about the size of a large dumb waiter. Maximum five it said, hmmm.
Room Tip: Avoid the double on the third floor next to the lift.
