Having just returned home from another christmas at the La Baia hotel on Scarboroughs lovely north bay I thought I should write and tell the world what a brilliant time we had.
We were greeted by the most sincere hosts we have ever encounterd,Elaine and Tony and invited into the bar for complimentory mince pies and xmas drinks,a nice touch after some of the long journies some guests had made to get there.Checking in was as always easy and quick before being shown to our room, help with luggage if you need it,you don't need to ask, it is always offered.
The room our favourite room 8,was as usual spotlessly clean lovely and warm and very inviting indeed, with a well stocked complimentory tea/coffee tray(replenished daily) along with towel changes when needed and beds made up.
Breakfast at the La Baia is like your christmas presents, what everyone hopes for but seldom gets,we even had bubble and squeak on boxing day (left over potatoes and sprouts)nice one Tony. There is a varied menu including porridge, kippers and smoked haddock, along with yoghurts tinned fruit, juices, cerials, and of course the full english, served to you by Elaine and the young ladies who help out,Tony will be in the kitchen cooking and preparing everything to his own high standards.
On an evening you can dine in from the varied and very resonably priced menu, the meals are gorgeous,or you can dine out with Scarborough offering everthing from hot dogs to michelin guide establishments and everything in between,Elaine and Tony will guide you in the right direction if your're not sure or new to the area.
Later on we like to sit in the bar and have a drink and a chat with other guests, some familliar friendly faces and some new faces,or put the brilliant juke box on with it's huge range of classic tracks.
Christmas dinner was very nice indeed along with the first class buffet that was laid out on boxing day, along with home made cakes.
To sum it up Christmas was superb and we have booked for next year although we will be visiting this gem long before.
p.s Cheers Elaine and Tony wishing you and all your guests the very best for 2012
