I wanted somewhere cheap and cheerful as a base to watch a 4-day county match: Yorkshire v Hampshire. This hotel gave me excellent value-for money for adequate accommodation; a decent breakfast and friendly management.

The location improved even more when I discovered Jeremy's Restaurant and realised how close it was to the Chatsworth Hotel. B&B at the Chatworth; dinner at Jeremy's. That's the formula for good living at affordable prices!

Good location for a visit to the open air theatre. Hotel is very basic and shabby,the owners seem to think that just because they point out that the hotel is in need of refurbishment they can get away with the awful room that we were given. The room was not a double, bed was pushed right up against one wall, bathroom was gloomy with a stained carpet and just a couple of small rough towels There was no wifi access. The only good thing about this hotel is its location.

Warm welcome, ideal position, good breakfast. BUT bedroom carpets had not been vacuumed, there was rubbish under the beds, bedside table was sticky, cobwebs, fan in bathroom did not work. The twin beds turned out to be separated bunk beds! I am sure when refurb finished, it will be good so long as all these issues are resolved.

booked on line,confirmed booking of two double rooms,i paid by debit card night before.
On arrival was told by a woman with a scribbled note that rooms had been over booked and could no longer offer the two double rooms.I was told by this woman she could not refund my money as she was just asked to pass on the message and that the owners were not back until six o clock that evening. this meant we had to spend the afternoon looking for alternative accomodation!
I would have thought that not only could they have been there to apologise and suggest another hotel,but to offer us our money back , instead we had to go back at six o clock and on asking for a refund we were told we were rude.
I think not, the hotelier was asked in a respectful manner for a refund, and thought if anyone had been rude it was them for treating us in this manner.
