“Kurt is a legend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I stayed with my family a few years ago and have to say that it is one of the best places i've ever stayed in my life. The ensuite room was great and the bed comfortable. Very nice house. There is a big garden therer where we could sit and wile away the hours The food kurt and suzanne cooked was very tasty and plentiful. Kurt is a legend and a great host. I will treasure to this day the great chats my family and myself would have with him as kurt supplied us with complimentary tea and coffee in the evening. Kurt is an interesting guy, a great conversationalist, and i look forward to going back soon. Thanks for everything kurt and suzanne.

Room Tip: Amazing host. Kurt is a legend.

“Never again......!”

Arrived for a short break, first impression was "Oh dear....!". Upon entering we thought we'd entered a time warp. Furniture and decor very dated.
Bedroom: Un-hoovered from previous occupants, musty smell, complimentary tea and coffee not replenished, cups stained (we went out and bought new mugs to use), tea towel stained and towels very old and mis-matched.
Bathroom: Tidy with good shower.
Breakfast: The call for breakfast was a gong which amused us greatly ! Choice of cereal minimal and there were lots of either/or choices (eg cereal OR juice OR prunes etc). The full english was mis-leading. It consisted of "Owners choice of the day" - Day 1 - Sausage x 1, scrambled egg, bacon x 1 and (anaemic) baked beans. Day 2 - Croquet potatoes x 2 bacon x 1, tinned mushrooms (spoonful), poached egg. No other choice. No offer of tea/coffee refill. No choice of bread (white/brown) and it must have just been shown to the toaster as it was so pale.

We have visited Sidmouth on many occasions but this is one B&B that will not be on our Christmas list !!!!

“Cheap and cheerful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2009

Stayed at this establishment with my husband during a walking holiday on the South West Coast path. Decor and furnishings were very outdated, lots of frills and patterns!! Like being in a 70/80's time warp. Very friendly welcoming hosts. We did not have en suite which was a bit of a pain, although there was a sink in our room. The seperate bathroom was adequate although the 'shower' was the push on tap sort which was a bit weak. One thing that did make us laugh was the gong that was struck when breakfast was ready. What was all that about?? Very good location, within easy walking distance of the town centre. You get what you pay for here. Ok for a one night stay.

Had no problems with this b&b. It was clean and tidy and the breakfast was good enough. The room was a bit small but fine for a short stay. The one thing that will stick in my memory is the German owner presiding over the last few minutes of the breakfast, making sure we didn't try to steal any of the leftover cornflakes!
