Sidmouth is an old fashioned town developed in Victorian times and the Victoria fits the general ambience. It is expensive unless there is a deal available and you need to be careful about choice of room. Ours was a refurbished one with a sea view. The decor and bathroom were good although the room was small. The view was mainly over the front of the hotel but we could see the sea. There are better rooms but at a cost.
It appeals to the older generation as does Sidmouth which is the nicest of the surrounding seaside towns.
The public rooms are comfortable with a pleasant view over the Bay.
The staff were helpful alhtough failed to do turndown on one night and we had to report a failed light 3 times.
The restaurant is good and the service efficient. The food was good and breakfast was excellent. The hotel requires men to have a jacket and tie.
The hotel is one of several owned by the Brend group in Devon and all seem to be of a similar standard.
