We stayed at Hunters Moon during December. We had a lovely comfortable room, which was well equipped. The very clean ensuite was enormous.
Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.
We recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to explore the area.

We went at the beginning of November 3 months after my wife had broken her ankle to hopefully recuperate and have a short 4 day rest before winter set in. Upon arriving we were allocated to a very nice spacious room at the front with a pleasant view of the garden and park beyond.
The food at breakfast and dinner was very tasty with a good choice from the menu and the staff were delightful. When we talked to other guests at after dinner coffee in the lounge it was evident that the hotel had a lot of repeat business - indeed the friends who recommended it to us had stayed there 4 or 5 times. The situation of the hotel is very quiet yet central for all kinds of holiday activities.
Like another writer we are sorry this superb hotel is not nearer home but we certainly intend to return before long.

Yet another return trip to this hotel confirmed what we already knew. Most friendly efficient and helpful staff, fantastic breakfasts, and evening meal with an excellent choice on the menus. Furthermore the setting must be the best in Sidmouth being situated so close to the Byes and having extensive gardens surrounded by mature trees. Parking is not only easy to access but plentiful and very close to the entrance to the hotel. It is a measure of its success that on our recent visit all the guests had been on numerous occasions, so they must be doing something very well indeed. The rooms are roomy comfortable and extremely clean and in addition nice and warm. A short 10 minute stroll takes you to the sea front and the town with lovely shops, many places to have coffee and a department store to while away the time should it rain. Took advantage of the Indian Summer and booked a few days at Hunters Moon. It was all we expected and more. Large bedroom with very comfortable beds and excellent en suite. Pleasant comfortable lounge. Good breakfast and dinner with excellent choices. Helpful and attentive staff. Well kept grounds and just a 10 minute stroll from the shops and sea front. But, there is always a but, it is just a little bit too far from home to nip there for a couple of nights. On the positive side we will have to go for a longer stay, which we surely will.
