Pluses and minuses for this hotel. It’s relatively near the future Heathrow Terminal 5 and no doubt room prices will increase significantly once the terminal opens. In the meantime, decent prices at their own Web site.
We booked a double executive smoking room. On arrival we were told that they had none available but would put us in non-smoking room and would “send up an ashtray”. This was despite a notice in the room asking guests not to smoke. As a non-smoker, I took note of this; my wife, the smoker, was happy!
The room was very clean, modest in size, larger that some 4-star Heathrow hotels, but not substantially so. Just what was “executive” about the room mystifies me – a small desk / vanity table, an upright chair, a small easy chair, and an empty mini-bar. Acceptable cupboard and drawer space, but not generous. A wall mounted unit with iron and board-cum-trouser press, and tea / coffee facilities. Excellent soundproofing, but at a penalty of being unable to open the window. Good and heavy curtains. Only one face towel, but two bath towels. Requested a second, which quickly arrived. Room make-up on day two reverted to a single towel!
As mentioned by others, secure car parking and key-card secured elevator. Reception issued only one key-card which resulted in my wife being stranded in the lobby!
Breakfast is served in the cramped Nepalese restaurant and was poor – tea and coffee served from Thermos flasks – why not hot water and a choice of teabags? Fresh fruit, yoghourt cost extra. Cereals and milk included. Cooked breakfasts greasy and cooked in old oil. Croissants “not available on Sunday”.
The lack of ambience in the restaurant caused us to decide not to take dinner there. Room service was very basic – a selection of soups, sandwiches, Nepalese, and basic European (omelettes, pizza, burger). Don’t take the fish and chips – overcooked and swimming in oil. Service quick but poor – cling film over everything, minimal condiments.
Opinion – a recently-built three star masquerading as a four star. Would I stay here again? Not through choice.
