“Convenient location”

This hotel is conveniently located not too far from Heathrow. The Hotel Hoppa bus runs from every terminal every 15 minutes or so, and costs a couple of GBP. It is also close to a highway intersection (forgot which one) so getting to London or elsewhere is easy too. It is also not too far from the Windsor Castle.

However, the immediate surroundings of the hotel is sub par. It is in the middle of a depressing neighborhood that seems to have no amenities, restaurants, etc. except for a lone pub across the street.

Rooms are OK - standard Marriott rooms, perhaps a tad smaller compared to ones in US. Breakfast buffet at GBP 15 is expensive, unless you get a rate that includes breakfast. The health club and heated indoor swimming pool is great in in the cold months.

Overall, this is a good hotel and frequently stay here for the convenience from the airport and access to where I have my meetings.

“Expensive Rooms, Incompetent Staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I had made a reservation through the Marriott website for a senior discount weekend rate which included breakfast. When I checked in, the receptionist hinted that I was paying way too much, but then softened her criticism a bit by remarking that at least the rate included breakfast. I did not pursue the issue because I was very short of time. When I reached my room, I found it had a standard double bed, even though my confirmation promised a king or queen bed. Back to the front desk, and this time was given a room with a king size bed, but also a defective swivel desk chair with a ten degree forward tilt - rather uncomfortable, but I had more important things to do than keep changing rooms, including returning to the airport to exchange a defective rental car. Next morning I discovered that the bathroom vent fan did not work at all, and the only way to clear out the steam after using the shower was to use the trash bin to prop open the bathroom door. The prices for internet service turned out to be ridiculous (£6 per hour, £15 per day, £75 per week) and so I did not try it. The waitress at breakfast was so slow that she did not even greet me until I had finished eating from the buffet and was getting up to leave, even though there were hardly any other customers in the restaurant at that time, and so I had no tea or coffee with my breakfast. The parking arrangements turned out to be very confusing because a separate company tracks the license plates and bills a penalty of £90 to anyone who parks for more than 30 minutes without paying to park. The receptionist had not told me this when I checked in, and so I failed to pay for parking the defective rental car that I returned to the airport, until I checked out of the hotel two days later. At checkout, the front desk clerk erroneously charged my room rate to the credit card I had presented at check-in, even though I had already placed a pile of cash on the counter, and it took him several minutes to find out how cancel the credit card charge. Next time, I will stay somewhere else, mainly because dealing with the poorly trained and managed staff here is so tedious.

Room Tip: The receptionist may not give you the type of room you reserved, so check every detail including bed...

“Disappointing”

Breakfast was average but included in the price while my colleague paid 50% more for a bigger room and had to pay seperate for the breakfast. wifi its not included in the price, hell nothing seems to be. Hotel design is boring. I only picked it because it is located near business contacts. if not necessary it will not come back.

We stayed her the week end before Christmas on a deal from Hotel Breaks. Paid £49.50 per persons For Room, Dinner and Breakfast the next Day. On arrival we were upgraded to club rooms on the sixth floor FOC. Dinner was OK, sellection of starter and main from Menu in main restaruant. Breakfast next morning was a little manic. Not enough tables, but I think tey had a couple of coach parties in. Great food though. Free car parking. Just a really good value for money week end

“Stayed here many times and always will return”

I attend many business meetings at HQ in Slough, but I prefer to always stay at the Castle Hotel in Windsor. It's perfectly located, excellent staff and a very short drive into town to see Windsor Castle as Windsor is a beautiful place and the Castle Hotel an excellent hotel.

I recommend all aspects of the Hotel, apart fro a small swimming pool but a more than adequate gymnasium, nice bar and good food.
