“Lovely.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Great hosts. Wonderful breakfast....lots of effort put into the presentation of the meal! Great location, within walking distance of everything in Ballater. The only negative was that our room for three was too small. But this was outweighed by the quality and comfort of the furnishings, the perfect cleanliness and (to our daughter's delight) the books - especially the Harry Potter's - in the lounge. We do not hestiate to recommend this B and B.

Thank you for your very positive review of our home from your stay back at the beginning of August last year. We always try to present not only a quality breakfast but also a well presented one as well, as we believe that people eat with their eyes as well as their stomachs. We are situated just a few minutes walk from the village centre which is ideal for most as the short walk into the village gives our guests a chance to view some of the historic building that line the way. We were a little suprised about the comment regarding the size of the room as you were booked in via Visit Scotland into our triple room which is a large room at the front of the property with views to the Craigendarroch over the way. We are pleased that this did not detract from your stay and appreciate the comments regarding the quality and comfort of the furnishings. We pride ourselves on our standards of cleanliness as is reflected in many of our reviews. We have an extensive range of books available for our guests to borrow and read and we were happy that your daughter found the Harry Potter books amongst them. We thank you once again for your kind review and the fact that you would not hesitate to recommend us. If ever you are passing are way again on your trips from Canada then please stop by.

Regards,

“Lovely and enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 day break at Glenernan. Hosts John and Denise were both friendly and full of helpful advice during our stay. We stayed in the superior double room which was a lovely spacious room with great views to the rear of the house. The en suite bathroom is a very good size. Glenernan was very clean and tidy. Glenernan is less than 5 minutes walk to the town of Ballater. There are a number of very good restaurants to choose from. We won't hesitate to book again.

First of all thank you for your kind review.

We always try our best to keep our guests informed of what is going on in the village and also the best places to eat as well as other general infomation. You stayed as you rightly say in one of our 2 new "Superior Doubles" that offer just that extra space, comfort and style, these rooms are both new in design for our inventory for 2012 and we hope that they will be popular and appeal to guests who want just that little bit more. We pride ourselves on our cleanliness & tidyness and this is mentioned in previous reviews. We are as you mention just a short walk from the village and all it has to offer and with Ballater being the "Eastern Gateway" to the Cairngorms National Park what better location could you choose to explore that all this lovely unspoilt area of Scotland has to offer.

It was great to have you stay with us and we genuinely hope that you find time to come back to us sometime in the future.

“Can't wait to go back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

This Guest House is absolutely fantastic. John and Denise will go the extra mile to make sure that you enjoy your stay.
We booked late for Ballater Victoria week and got the last room available, and the room was very comfortable and well prepared. The position of Glenernan on the main road in Ballater could not be better for visiting Balmoral or the Cairngorm Mountains Park.
Definitely worth the visit

“"We''ll be back!!"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

We are a party of 4 golfers who have used the Glenernan on a number of occasions for a golfing weekend. It is ideally situated in the village for our requirements, with a number of pubs and restaurants nearby. The rooms are of a very high standard, and the excellent breakfast sets us up for the day's golfing ahead.
