“Recent Build Travelodge : No Problems”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

Just an overnight stay.

Situated to the NW of Bedford on the edge of industrial estate and residential housing. Set back off a busy urban minor road. Large well-lit car park which has no restrictions on use after 1800hrs daily and all weekend. Unsure rest of time as automatic barrier notice mentions tokens I think. Arriving on a Friday night we had no problems.

Check-in was very quick and efficient with friendly receptionist. Cardkey access to corridors and allocated room.

Our room was on the ground floor and it appeared a bit smaller than usual. In fact, looking at the Fire Escape Plan on the inside of the bedroom door, it appeared to be the smallest of the lot ! But no matter; small and quiet is fine.

The Travelodge being fairly new, our room was very clean and in good decorative order. Everything worked except the bathroom pedal bin (pedal broken). Shower, no bath. Decent TV. Tea/coffee as usual. No other frills.

No food on site. We ended up at a pub/restaurant about three miles away - next to the other Bedford Travelodge (Goldington) by chance ! So be prepared to travel for food; plenty of choice in Bedford about 5-7 mins away by car.

No noise overnight, either from traffic or guests. Most satisfactory.

Good for an overnight but for longer term there is not much in the area as far as we could see. Nevertheless, superb value as we only paid £10 for the overnight, booked some months previously.

Would definitely use again.

“Modern facilities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

No problem with the hotel. Nice room & well serviced. Plenty of car parking space. The location is a bit sparce with no local restaurants or pubs, unless you want to go in to Bedford, which is a bit far to walk.

“Don't bother unless you get a really cheap deal”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

We went to visit some relatives in Bedford and decided to stay in a hotel for ease. As regular hotel users, we found a deal at this Travelodge. It was disappointing to say the least. The room was shabby with holes in the curtains and a large crack in the sink. There were black mould marks along the bath and sink and the bedding was worn to say the least. Travelodge have stopped putting any complimentary shampoo in the rooms - not knowing this we had not brought any. My partner went to reception to ask if they had any and they were happy to sell us small sachet for £1! The location is in the middle of an industrial estate and the only thing nearby is a supermarket - you will need taxis or transport to go anywhere. They only good thing that I can find to say about this trip is that the staff were good. The night / evening receptionist was really good, he helped us sort out a taxi and gave us some local information and he was probably the only reason we didn't complain to the management! General verdict - pay a bit more ans stay somewhere better as this has put me off Travelodge!

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else!

“Clean and Tidy, pleasant staff and comfortable rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

I stayed here for two weeks whilst in the process of relocating to the area for a new job. The hotel is located on the periphery of Bedford so it is a bit of a walk to get back into town but easily drivable. Closeby to a big Sainsburys which also has a cafe which is good. The hotel was good value - I booked on one of their offers and paid £15 per night for my two weeks which is excellent value and almost makes it faultless.
Only on one of the nights there appeared to be a disturbance outside the front (my room was at the front that week!) and lots of shouting and loud music - couldnt really close the window due to it being so hot and humid. Still, it seemed to get sorted out within about 30 minutes and then I was back to sleep.
OVerall the hotel was clean, tidy, the room was comfortable. One of the days the room was not cleaned or tidied by anyone but a quick word with reception sorted this out.
I would recommend this hotel to any business traveller.
