“Cold”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Stayed on business. Hotel now charging guests for parking car which I feel is not good. The very thin room windows were letting in a lot of cold so had to put the aircon on which blew hot air. The quilt on the bed was ripped and one very thin pillow to support my head was not condusive to a good night sleep. Breakfast was OK but had to request several items be provided - water had run out, orange juice empty and one yoghurt.

Dear Dinoswindon,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on the hotel.

Due to the hotel's Town Centre location and the limited parking available in the area we are making minimal charges for the use of our car park along with other establishments in the vicinity.

In 2012 the hotel is undergoing renovation works which will include the replacement of the bedroom windows to reduce the use on the air handling units which are ensuring that the rooms stay warm for our guests.

We are currently reviewing the pillows in the hotel to add additional ones in the rooms automatically, however guest's can ask anyone of our team members for these which will be provided from the stocks currently in the hotel.

The hotel's breakfast buffet is refreshed throughout the time that we are open and I can only apologise if you had to request for items as these are normally provided.

Thank you again for your comments

Regards

“Clean and tidy, awful restaurant.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

The hotel room was spacious, clean and overlooked the river. The shower was excellent and the staff friendly.
However, the food in the grill restaurant was terrible. The waitress was wonderful, but the £17.95 mixed grill consisted of 2 slices of poor quality bacon, two even poorer quality sausages, a shoddy piece of steak, a field mushroom and half a grilled tomato. The chips were great, but a mixed grill at this price should consist of good quality meat along the lines of pork/lamb chops, steak and chicken. I was highly unimpressed and had I not had a 'Taste' card that reduced the price by 50% I would have sent the food back and refused to pay.
Breakfast the next day was equally as dissapointing. Served from 0700hrs I went up for it at 0730hrs and the same horrible sausages and bacon from the night before were on offer, but cold this time, along with watery scrambled eggs , oily mushrooms and cold tomatoes. Such a shame as the hotel itself was quite nice!! I'd stay there again but should have gone into town for food!!

Dear Jo C,

Thank you for completing your review on the hotel and I am sorry that your overall experience was not to your expectations.

I am pleased to hear that you found your room spacious, clean with our excellent modern bathrooms which come with rainfall showers.

I am disappointed that you found the mixed grill of poor quality as this does come as standard with sausage, bacon, steak, chicken served with mushroom, tomato and fat chips which is one of the hotels popular dishes from the menu. We are currently reviewing the Restaurant menu with the dishes that we offer along with the contents of these which will be in place before the end of February.

The breakfast standard in the hotel has been reviewed recently with some changes made already with menu options provided for egg preferences to order and we are also making some further changes over the next coming weeks as we review our suppliers.

I do hope that when you next visit the hotel that you would give us the opportunity to show the changes made. I would also like to meet you during your stay to discuss any further comments that you may have.

Regards

Dear tjai9220113,

Thank you for adding your comments on your restaurant experience at the hotel.

We have recently reviewed our restaurant service and also location and have relocated our dinner service to the first floor as of 30th January. The first floor restaurant boasts the best views in Bedford over looking the River Ouse and the historic mound in Bedford Town.

I can only apologise for the delay in service that you mention, however as we have now moved the restaurant this will assist in the speed of food delivery.

I do hope that you will join us again and see the difference that has been made to both the location and also service.

“Basic hotel, good price. Some staff attitudes need to be improved!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

I have stayed at this hotel several times, it is in a nice location next to river and generally the experience is pleasant.
The rooms are basic but comfortable, the breakfast is superb. The front desk staff are always very helpful and informative.
Most of the other staff are fine, I have had a couple of bad experiences with the service at the bar for both food and drinks. One of the ladies working there has little customer service technique and is, in a word, rude.
The food is good for the price. The hanger steak is nice, could probably do with a warmer feel in the bar area. There is a fantastic view of the river which they could use so much better.
Externally this place looks run down but it is not too bad inside. It is good value, but rather non-descript. Not a place for a date or a weekend away but a decent functional place for a business overnight stay.

Dear Greggbb,

I am pleased to see that you have returned to the hotel on several occasions and find our location good next to the River and had some pleasant experiences with us.

Customer service is paramount for the Hotel and we have invested time in adding additional training in our Yes I Can! service with our team members. We are currently reviewing additional training programmes to further enhance our customer service levels.

The hotel is due to have a renovation in 2012 of our public areas as well as the external areas as we further enhance the hotel following the bedroom renovation in 2009 with our functional rooms.

The Park Inn by Radisson is a functional hotel offering good customer service as you have commented in your review with our front office team's service along with our value for money.

I do hope you will return in the near future to see the changes we are putting in place.

Regards

“Bad Restaurant experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We booked this restaurant after seeing really nice photos of what we thought to be the rgb restaurant at the park inn Bedford. This was far from the case. The photo shown on website is not the same as the hotel. In stead a bland dated corner of the hotel lobby with no character or ambience at all. The waitress although friendly lacked knowledge and basic table eticate. Leaving dirty plates on table, not bringing meals together. And leaving wine on table without opening or pouring for us. Starters were good. I ordered a sirloin steak at a cost of £20. The meat was not any better than a cheap cut from a whethersoons restaurant. Although this was deducted from the bill. No apology was given, and from this point on an attitude towards us was felt. When the bill was provided we had our money ready to be told they had given us the wrong bill as they had left a bottle of wine off the menu. Very unprofessional. Avoid this hotel restaurant if you like quality food and good service. In this restaurant you don't pay for what you get!

25 January 2012
Dear IanForrester1983,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your experience in our Restaurant.

Please accept my sincere apologies that the overall experience was not to your parties expectations.

We are currently updating our websites as we launched a separate site specifically for our RBG Restaurant and can only apologise that this was misleading as we are amending the generic photography that has been placed on the site.

The hotel does have a 2nd restaurant located on the 1st floor, which we do not normally use for our dinner service, however we have recently reviewed this and the evening restaurant will be relocating up to the 1st floor which boasts the best views in Bedford.

I apologise if you feel that the person serving you lacked knowledge and customer service as this is not our normal standard within the hotel. I will of course discuss this with the Restaurant Manager and address any training that needs to be provided to ensure that the best service is given.

I will ensure that the hotels Chef contacts our meat supplier with your comments regarding the Sirloin Steaks as these are purchased from our companies nominated provider and are of the best qaulity.

I do hope that you will give us the opportunity to restore your faith in the hotel restaurant by returning in the future.

Kind Regards
