Arrived on a cold sunday afternoon, parked in hotel carpark and found they charge £5 per day parking fee for residents.

This was so disapointing, why should residents have to pay extra for parking?

Room was small, and cosy with view of river.( Bright colour scheme)
No biscuits with tea and coffee facilities was disappointing.
No Wifi in bedrooms only in communal area.
Restaurant very impressive, however food was average.

I ordered fish with a portion of chips (extra £2:50) and received 5 chips.

Staff friendly, mostly polish.

The £25 charge for 5 days parking was the sting in the tail!

Personally prefered the Barns Hotel.

This old style hotel is in a lovely central location, right next to the river in Bedford. I stayed for 1 night last weekend and found the staff, very helpfull and the room very clean. Altogether a lovely stay in a good location. Thanks to all the staff.

My first impressions of the hotel were good, but once you get into your room (and feel like you've walked back in to 1987) you start noticing lots of little rough edges around the hotel (such as the alarming colour scheme in the ladies bathrooms on the ground floor!). I think I must have had the same room as one of the reviewers below as the mixer tap on the shower kept switching from hot to cold and back again, and the room was unpleasantly warm with the AC making no difference. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and food and service were both average. Overall it was a very average experience but not for a very average price, I feel the hotel is expensive for what you are getting, particularly when they start adding on parking fees as well. I would not make a point of returning.

We stayed with the 'taste of the Bedford Swan' package which included a 4-course dinner. The food was lovely and the restaurant staff were very helpful although they seemed a bit confused by the fact that dinner was included in our package. The room was also great- the bed was comfy and we had a great view over the river (our room was very quiet as well). We parked on the road- a bit of a walk, but it was free.
