“convenient location, well appointed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

A very impressive exterior, lovely old building with pretty gardens. The hotel is very handy for the M6 if you are unfortunate enough to have to use that road. The interior is very swish too. On our visit there were hardly any guests and so the atmosphere was rather cold in the public spaces. It is obviously used mainly for corporate functions and weddings.

Our bedroom was large, comfortable and well appointed. The tea making kit is hidden in a box in a cupboard but it is there.

The bed was comfortable, everything was spotlessly clean, the bathroom facilities were good. But why only give us a tiny bottle of water, and no tissues?

Breakfast was good, cooked to order and tasty.

This is a good place for a big party, a conference or a hasty stop over

“A bit eccentric but a great service”

This was a last minute idea and I needed a place to break my journey to Scotland. I booked the place almost at random and did not arrive until very late on the Friday night. Despite that the hotel staff were very helpful, they even made me a snack even though the kitchen closed hours beforehand. The room overlooked the garden and the bathroom was in the old tower part of the Hall. Everything was clean and in good working order and breakfast the following day was excellent, wiht the usual mix of buffet and menu for that all important english breakfast. This hotel caters for many weddings so I am not sure what it would be like if a wedding was on, since depending on the size of the wedding party they could easily dominate the hotel and as a guest you could be left "out in the cold" so to speak. Nevertheless this was a good hotel.

As part of our anniversary getaway, me and my wife visited the Lake District and spent 2 nights at Dalston Hall Hotel. Upon arrival we were made to feel welcome and the managemnt and staff couldnt have been more helpful. We stayed in Room 1 which housed a beautiful 4 poster bed and luxurious 6ft bath. The food was immpecable and I can't wait to return! 5 stars!

“Unhelpfull manager/disapointing service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011 via mobile

Totally disappointed brochure stated That all bathrooms were top of the range fitted out with marble and quality fittings. I spent extra to get the luxury room £155 a night Our bathroom was of a very low standard I'll upload the pictures when I asked if we could move the manager was very unhelpfull saying he could only downgrade us and did nothing to appease our disappointment !
I asked for flowers on the table for my anniversary dinner and nothing happened

Stayed there on a business stop over. Lovely room with bathrobes-fab smellies in the bathroom. Loads of hot water. Stayed in room12, which was very quiet. Massive tv on the wall. Beautiful grounds. Menu fine.
