“Peaceful, tranquillity and heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We just spent 4 nights for our Honeymoon in an amazing one bedroom Lodge called Chiffchaff. When we arrived we were a little disappointed at how small and how close our lodge was too our neighbour but the minute we stepped inside all our initial feelings just went away. The lodge itself was so cute with everything we could possible need. The bed was so comfy, which is a must for me and the kitchen was fully equipped with so many small touches. The log fire took some getting use to and one tip ... Turn the central heating off... It gets so hot with both on. The view was breathtaking and we felt we could have been a, million miles away from our neighbours as once on the deck outside you cannot see them and your so secluded. The hot tub made the honeymoon bucks fizz in there at lunch time then champagne in the evening and with the moon lighting up the little lake and swans swimming bye stars sparkling in the sky we were in heaven. The highlight though was my ducks. I read in the guest book that they wake you up for their breakfast but on our first morning there was no sign but the minute I opened the door they all came. The white one was so cute and every morning without fail they were waddling up out of the water and onto our deck ha. This is an amazing place and cant wait to go back. If your like us and enjoy each others company, watching loads of dvds, no phone signal but dont care, pure luxury and heaven then this is the place to go.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed on arrival, the layout of the lodge can appear deceptive. Our lodges are angled away from each other and south facing and I am pleased to hear that you discovered that the lodges at the Tranquil Otter are secluded from others.
We are pleased that you found all that you needed and that you enjoyed your honeymoon. The hot tub provides a great way for our guests to relax and enjoy the natural delights of the rural setting. The stars in the night sky, the bird life on the lough. We are pleased you found the bed comfortable and look forward to welcoming you again.
Best wishes for 2012.

“Perfect new year honeymoon.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Just got back from the Tranquil Otter after our stay over new year for a little honeymoon. As everyone has said it is the most beautiful special peaceful place. The lodges are immaculate, and the hot tub is perfect. What better way to start our new married life and 2012 than sitting in a hot tub sipping champagne.

The little touches go a long way, and it was so lovely to arrive to find the shopping we had ordered from tesco's had arrived and Tazeem had put it all away for us!

Was lovely to see Dave the swan and his 7 new babies!!

We will be back without a doubt!!! Maybe with our own babies in tow next time!

Thanks Nick and Tazeem for a fabulous stay xx

Happy New Year and thank you for your review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your Honeymoon at the Tranquil Otter and that like Dave the swan you are making your own plans.

We have a lot of mute swans at the moment, RSPB man who visits once a month counted 34. It is great to sit in the hot tub and watch the young swans take off. I love the sound they make as they take off.

Thank you for your review and we look forward to welcoming the two of you plus ...

Best wishes

“3rd time and still lucky”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

Third visit to Tranquil Otter, and still enjoying the visits.
Different lodge for us this visit, we chose Arctic Skua, this is a lovely cosy lodge.

Still cared for to the high standard of the other lodges, I noticed this time the "little things"
What a treat to find small toiletries to sample in the bathroom.

We noticed the change in scenery, so much from last winters visit when it was snow and frost covered.

We relaxed and wrote our Christmas cards, cosied up by the log burner, and sipped champagne in the tub.......
Had a long walk to burn up the calories what a pefect pre-christmas rest before the manic festivities begin.

You wont be dissapointed

Happy New Year. Thank you for taking time to write a review, like you we have many regular guests and Nick and are pleased that you noticed the improvements that we are making to the lodges and the site generally. Whilst it is always great to take a break in the main holiday season, many of our guests, like you, enjoy out of season breaks. The log fires are great for the crisp winter days. Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you a fourth time.
Best wishes

“Nice place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

We stayed here in October 2011, very nice place it had been recommended by friends years previously.
The lodge has everything you require for a self catering holiday, hot tub was great.
We were woken up one night by noisy neighbours but we spoke to owners who sorted it out, which was good as when you are paying this type of money you want what you pay for which is tranquil!
lovely place and recommended.

Thank you for writing the feedback. We do like to welcome all our guests and do stress the point about sound carrying over water. We also like to make sure all our guests get the best possible experience at the Tranquil Otter and ask that you alert us to any disturbance, which you did. Thank you for this and I am pleased to hear that we were able to resolve the issue for you.
Merry Christmas to you and to all who read this review.
Best wishes

“Absolute bliss. Total relaxation in perfect surroundings.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011 via mobile

This was our second stay at the Tranquil Otter and once again we weren't disappointed. We stayed in the Chiff Chaff lodge which was spotless and very comfortable. We had our own personal jetty where the rowing boat was moored.
We had regular visits from the local ducks, the swans and occasionally the resident (and very friendly dog) Leah.
We were incredibly lucky with the weather and witnessed some incredible sunsets.
We took regular advantage of the hot tub....sipping bubbly under the stars. We also lit the log fire which was lovely.
You can do as much or as little as you like. There are lots of scenique walks. We visited the bird hide.
We would highly recommend a stay here. Although we only live about 5 miles away, we could be anywhere. It is another world where time seems to stand still. We will DEFINITELY be returning.
