We arrived soaked after riding the last 2 hours in heavy rain and the host kindly offered to dry any clothes we needed for the next days ride, which was appreciated.

The room was immaculately clean and very comfortable too.

Breakfast was huge and tasty too. So big infact that we could not even finish, which is unusual!

There were a number of reasons for our visit to carlisle. The football (yeovil's last game of the season) and it was the location of the start of our cycle ride to newcastle. holly trees is a great location for the footie. The pub down the road (bee hive) serves a great pre match pint! It is also just a short walk to the city centre. our rooms were great, clean and a good size. Breakfast was a great way to prepare for our cycle ride, full english with plenty of toast and tea! We'll be back next football season. Fingers crossed for another three points!

Thanks to other TripAdvisor reviews we stayed here for two nights in April. Steve and his family made us feel very welcome, and because we were there during the royal wedding bank holiday, they also checked out transportation options for us and made sure that we didn't get ripped off. Our room was clean, quiet and cozy, breakfast was substantial, and the location was perfect--close to the Hadrian's Wall path, and within a short walk of downtown Carlisle. The Holly Trees is in an area with many B&B's but I can't imagine you could find a bettter one!

We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay at the Holly trees. Steve was very friendly and helpful suggesting g. places for us to visit every day which was very useful as we did not know Carlisle. It was near a lovely park with river where we saw lots of unusual birds as we were keen birdwatchers. You could walk up the road and in 10 mins. be at the eating places, we went to 3 different ones and all very good.
