“Almost everything you could wish for”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Had an excellent stay here. It was during the very cold winter 2011 and the room heater had been left on so the room was warm when I arrived. It was very clean and had tea and coffee making facilities. The bed was very large and comfy (perhaps the cushion was a little soft). Decor was modern and seemed quite new. There was a shower only so would have liked a bath too but can't be helped. Location is great, near to town. The reception are very helpful and polite. The only negative would be the number of fire doors in the corridors that sometimes get opened too often in the evening. Very good hotel.

“Clean, basic rooms, verygood value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Have stayed in Travelodge previously and so knew what to expect. The room was basic, clean and excellent value for money. We stayed over the Chrstmas holidays and booked in the travelodge sale and so paid only £41.50 for two nights. You can't get much better than that for a city centre hotel on a bank holiday.

Excellent location within walking distance of the city, lots of restaurants and pubs/bars. No outside noise and the room was pretty spacious. We were a pillow down when we arrived, asked reception for another and had one within the hour, delivered to the door. Friendly staff, would definately stay here again.

“Great Weekend”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Stayed for 3 days over the New Year period. Had a great time. The location is brilliant right next to the Pubs and Restaurants. Only 5 minutes walk from the Train Station ,walk out of the Station turn right at the Griffin pub then turn left at the Cumberland Arms straight on for two minutes and you are there !!
Reception was no problem, nice friendly young guy gave us extra pillows straight away when asked (always do this at Travelodge as you only get one pillow each in the room).
Room on the 3rd (top) floor was clean and tidy. Nice views over the Town and a bit of countryside. (the guys who fitted the windows should be ashamed of the draught !!!)
Didn't try breakfast as it is only a couple of minutes walk to Wetherspoons (next to the Cumberland Arms) for a good cheap deal.
There is a nice Chinese take-away just opposite the Travelodge if you just fancy eating in for supper or whatever, but there are plenty of restaurants in the area for eating out.
TIP. Always pre-book a table at weekends in Carlisle !!
All in all a great long weekend. Will definately return.

“Good for a one night stopover”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Booked this travelodge as a stop off on the way to Scotland, arrived at 9.30pm and got parked outside, put our disc on from 8.30am so that we had until 9.30am to get to the car. Guy on reception was nice and friendly, we hyad a room which was through a doorway on its own so we didn't get any noise from people walking past along the corridor, room was your typical travelodge standard, but had everything we needed and was clean.mattress was a bit on the soft side.
We had a room which looked onto the main entrance, the only thing I would say if you are staying on a weekend is you do get noise from people passing after the nightclubs close,we got woken up by lots of shouting.
Checked out at 9am as we wanted to be away early, nice staff on reception. Didn't have breakfast.

“Totally uninteresting!”

Travelodge City Centre, Carlisle - worst place i have ever stayed. On arrival, 35 minutes before check-in, advised pay £10 or wait til 3pm. Chose to wait, then no-one on reception, so then late checking in. In pre-booked family room (booked for 2 adults, 2 children) the childrens beds not made up, linen heaped on top of sofa bed, no bath mat and one slippery floor, only enough towels for 3 people. No TV remote so enquired at reception, 'there aint one, they're on order, you have to use buttons on the TV' she said, without even attempting to look up from whatever was more interesting. Button pushing no good unless you were over 6ft tall and stood on top of a chair. In the morning, breakfast, great - NOT! Nothing hot, chef not there, 'have you not got a token? (What token? i presume you wanted me to pre-order the night before, fine if you had told me to!) 'he'll be back soon', only had 45 minutes left on parking so couldnt take the risk of waiting and having 5 minutes to eat!

Room Tip: Pre order breakfast well in advance, take you own TV remote!
