A bitter sweet experience. Upon entering the hotel I asked the man in reception for a pot of coffee and preceeded to tell him I was going to be joined by another 4 people and we wanted to discuss booking a wake so could we be seated in a quiet corner in the hotel lounge. The young man pointed me in the direction of the lounge but I got the impression he wasn't listening to me and that it wasn't his job to deal with me. After waiting for half an hour, the coffee still had not arrived. I returned to the desk and asked the same young man where my coffee was and he told me to go to the bar and order it. The bar was not where I wanted to be to discuss funeral arrangements and the young man was very dismissive of me and rude. In fact he walked away from me whilst I was speaking to him. This was witnessed by a more mature member of staff who apologised for his rudeness and told me his name, Anthony, who was infact the the Duty Manager for that day. The lady then brought me complimentary coffee and said the chef, who had witnessed Anthony's poor customer relations skills, had asked would we like some freshly baked complimentary Raspberry and white chocolate muffins. Had they not redeemed the situation so professionally this review would have received very low rating from me, however, as a consequence we did not chose this hotel to provide a hot buffet for 150 people. I hope senior management read this review and severly reprimand this member of staff and send him on some Customer Service training.
