We had a last minute one night stay away on the motorbike. The receptionist was frosty and disinterested. This was evident when, although we arrived in motorcycle clothing, clutching helmets and topbox, she asked if we'd parked our car in the carpark!! The room was small with barely a 2 foot gap either side of the bed. It was clean and functional with a built-in cupboard serving as a wardrobe, tall chest of draws, mirror unit and chair. We found the bad too hard and lumpy but that's often down to personal taste. Tea and coffee supplies were plentiful, but no biscuits. No visible plug sockets, had to move furniture to plug the phone charger in. The bathroom was a reasonable size and furnished with basic bath, wash basin and WC. The room lacked a shelf for our toiletries, the bath mixer tap/shower control was difficult to access around the shower door. We eat in the Bollywood restaurant, it was busy so we were seated in a separate room with another party, the food was good quality, very tasty and reasonably priced. the barman was unfamiliar with the drinks available and looked puzzled when I asked for a pint of Cobra. Once the other party left we were pretty much ignored by the waiting staff. After the main course we asked for the dessert menu, after at least 30 minutes nobody had come back to take our order, we gave up waiting, paid the bill and left. Breakfast was the best part, a large dining room with plenty of tables. The waitress met us as we walked in to take our coffee order and show us to a table. The self-service buffet for cereals, fruit juice, toast and cooked breakfast was well stocked. Other items available to order, porridge, fried, poached or boiled eggs. Service was friendly and efficient. All in all the hotel was reasonable and represented value for money for a winter overnight ride-out. Our next trip to Skeggy will probably see us stay in another of the many hotels, with availability plentiful this time of year.
