“Jaded and tacky”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

Not worth the money however cheap the price. Its advertised as including breakfast but your not told its one of those awful plastic breakfast bags dreamt up by Travelodge who now own and operate this hotel. The room stank of stale cigarrette smoke and as the hotel filled up with "white van men" the reason become obvious-the no smoking policy was blatantly ignored.
The mattress was totally useless and needed replacing in fact the whole buildingg was well past its sell by date. You book in at the Toby Inn but as the hotel facility is now owned by another company the staff are totally disinterested in serving you.

“Comfortable, clean....great value overall!”

I booked 3 nights (Fri, Sat and Sun) for £80 which included one night free. Check-in was a little slow, purely because the bar was busy at the time and no staff were able. A minor issue really as I was in no particular rush. The room was large and very clean, as was the bathroom. Breakfast was served in the adjoining Toby Carvery and I have no complaints at the range of food offered. Overall, for £80, it was a bargain stay. Even at £40 per night, you would be pretty happy with what you get, unless you want 4* luxury and want to pay at least double that! I will definitely stay again in this chain.

“Great Really Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2010

I stayed here with my husband the night of my friends at a local golf course. The rooms are opposite the pub, the check in was a bit of a pain had to wait while one of the barmen came over and seemed unsure of how to operate the computer.

The rooms were clean and well appointed for a budget hotel, with everything we needed. We did not eat at the restaurant but it looked ok normal chain style.

Breakfast was filling enough it was included in the price, not cooked just continental which was a shame. It looked a little unprofessional trestle tables with cloths on! I would not have paid extra but it was OK for us.

“Great find - couldn't ask for more for your money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2010

We stayed at here for 1night and were pleasantly surprised! We were checked in quickly and efficiently and our room was clean, tidy and not too small.
Everything you need in a basic hotel and would definitely return.
My only qualm was with the breakfast, which seemed to be just crusts of stale bread. We didn't eat here and went to a nearby cafe, but I the price paid was worth it for room only and I would recommend.

“Would return to this innkeepers lodge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2010

We were at a wedding reception at a hotel a couple of miles up the road. While our friends stayed at the wedding hotel and paid over a hundred pounds per night there, we booked in at this Innkeepers lodge and paid £39.95!
We were checked in very quickly and efficiently. The bedroom was in a separate building to the pub, but was extremely clean, tidy, welcoming and big enough for the two of us.
The breakfast the next morning was a self service continental style buffet with plenty of cereal, fruit, yoghurt, toast, juices and tea / coffee. Just the ticket!
The menu for the Toby carvery looked great too - pity we didn't have time to stay and sample it!
I was more than pleased with the room for the price we paid and would return without hesitation. There was very little noise from the main road, loads and loads of parking, and I liked the fact that when you checked out you just popped the room keys in a little box!
