“Great staff highlight this hotel !!”

After reading the negative reviews on the hotel - i was very sceptical as we had a booking for our wedding anniversary. I decided to email ramada and they emailed me back and reassured me that we would have a lovely time and went over the concerns that i had. We decided to go with no expectations and go with an open mind. We were greeted at reception with friendly, polite and professional staff, next we went to our room: yes the decor is dated but nowhere does it state that the hotel is modern and contemporary. The room was clean and tidy and had everything we needed and overlooked a lake, very beautiful even when it was frozen over. The leisure facilities are acceptable - its always a bonus to have a pool as not many hotels do have pools these days. The breakfast buffet was very nice and the staff very friendly there too. To finish i would like to say don't be swayed by people's negative reviews as there are plenty more positive than negative... give it a try if in doubt and make up your own mind!!

“Trip for a wedding”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

just back from spending the weekend at the Ramada Sutton Coldfield.Had an enjoyable weekend at the hotel where some staff were absolutely brand new (tom behind the bar )and others cold and unwelcoming (1 of the reception staff),where on checkout was handed a bill for breakfast when the corospondence clearly stated we were entitled to breakfast,1 of the receptionist accepted this whilst the other did eventualy but only reluctantly.
Like many other posts the rooms are in need of updating and our room 228 smelt a little musty and there was a big damp patch on the ceiling, where the shower/bath had obviously leaked from the room above.Another negative was the cleanliness of the bathroom,mud/dirt in the bath and we also found what looked like pubic hair as well.
Positive the bed was one of the comfiest we have ever encountered in hotels and the breakfasts were also enjoyable but on the sunday I had to wait for plates despite numerous requests to the waiting staff. We also enjoyed the pool (which to our enjoyment was lovely and warm).
All in all were relatively happy with our weekend at the hotel and maybe will return to the hotel with our children some time in the future.

Room Tip: make sure you have your booking reference as this will confirmwhat you are definately entitled to.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments following on from your recent stay. Please accept my apologies for the misunderstanding with breakfast and I am glad our reception team were able to resolve appropriately.

I would agree that parts of our hotel would benefit from investment, however, I hope you would agree we offer excellent value for a mid-market 3 star property and am pleased that you were able to take advantage of our leisure facilities on site.

Overall, I hope that you would agree it was an enjoyable stay and we would be delighted to welcome your family back to the hotel. We have some fantastic Drayton Manor and Cadbury World packages which may be of interest to you, all of which can be found on our website.

Yours sincerely

“Awards Night-Moulin Rouge”

This is the first time I have written a review but the night we had at this hotel was so outstanding i felt obliged to write and tell everybody about it.

i arrived at lunch time-the check in was painless. I then went to the bar to meet some old friends i have not seen for a long time. This is always pleasant. i did not have anything to drink. lessons have been learnt from previous years. If the bar is not your thing there is a leisure centre, a hairdresser and beauty therapist. Everything you need to prepare for a long night.

The actual night started early. The room was dressed to make me feel i was actually in paris with Nicole Kidman. The food and service was excellent and the entertainment did not disappoint. I have attended these awards since 2003 and it was the best one yet. i hope we return next year.

I had a long journey the next day so was in bed relatively early but i am told the bar stayed open until the last person dropped. sometimes people get wiser when they get older.

A very comfortable nights sleep ensued followed by an excellent Breakfast. i was first down. I always enjoy Haggis but i think this was especially organised for us as we are a scottish company. I then had a 200 mile journey which i did on auto pilot

I get the impression that this Hotel is very used and good at organising any sort of event.

Stayed at the hotel for company conference. The rooms might be a bit dated (as some reviewers pointed out) but they are clean and well maintained. Double bed was very comfortable. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. It is them than created my stay very comfortable.

“"Country Break" in Birmingham”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I heartily recommend you try this hotel. We booked two rooms through GroupOn and when we arrived we were offered and accepted a further offer of a three course meal with a bottle of wine in the restaurant.

Make the time to take a walk around the lake and ignore the fact that a gate at one end means you may have to double back - it really is a bit of the countryside in the middle of urban Birmingham.

The staff were very attentive, the food was excellent, and the accommodation good - so nice to have two comfy armchairs to sit and read the newspapers in the morning! Although it was not on the menu, I asked for cheese and biscuits after my meal which was smilingly delivered. At breakfast the eggs were scrambled so I asked if fried eggs were possible; five minutes later two freshly cooked eggs arrived. From beginning to end, this was a first rate experience.
