“Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Unfortunately my mum hasnt got the hang of the internet yet so I'm writing this review on behalf of her and 3 friends.
Stayed for 1 night as part of a Strictly Come Dancing Live trip .
The check-in was very quick and efficient with friendly reception staff. Rooms decorated to a good standard, clean and warm. Described as chintzy by mum, so dont go expecting minimalist chic.
Food at dinner was excellent as was breakfast the following morning. The busy staff dealt extremely well with a large number of guests, the manager helping out on both occasions.
Mums group enjoyed their stay so much they have already written to the manager to thank him and his staff for such a pleasant stay.

Nice pleasant stay quiet due to time of year. Dinner and breakfast good. Room spacious and bathroom good size. Room could do with some pictures on the walls to brighten up :) staff friendly -

“short and sweet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

if you want a change from the usual impersonal feel overnight stay then this would tick the right box. To a higher standard than the usual in its price range, much more attention to cleanliness that the bigger places tend to be. Furniture and fittings to a better standard, and nice soft cushion to the carpet instead of it feeling like walking on cardboard. An overall feeling of oldy worldy quaint and interesting. Some nice touches with little snug areas to sit , relax and unwind infront of an open fire. Would be nice also in the summer with countryside all around etc.. if i had to make one small point it would be that the person who greeted us at reception, and then helped out during the meal, dress a bit more in fitting with her position, there is a time and place for exposing cleavage, this was neither.

“Dissappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Stayed early in December 2011 for 2-nights.

Room basic but clean with a nice size bed. Website states "sleek and stylish furnishings" but would say they were neither sleek nor stylish.

Bar service was fine and cosy set-up for a couple of beers in the evening although the Guinness ran out after the first night, not impressed.

Dining was mixed. Very happy with breakfast, nice selection to help yourself from and the full English was superb (shame no beans though). Dinner however was absolutely atrocious. Lamb Hotpot with mashed potatoes had clearly been cooked at least a day before and reheated, it was truely awful.

Not an experience I would look to repeat.

“Overall view of hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We went to stop on New Years Eve, but when we viewed the room and the hotel we didn`t stay as we were very disappointed. |The tennis court was overgrown with moss - which we noticed when we arrived. The stair carpet was threadbare. The room was extremely small. The toilet was right behind the door and you couldn`t get in the bathroom properly. The room was drafty and the bed sheets were stained, and there was a strange hair in the bed. The crockery was cheap, and the travel kettle had seen better days. There was also someone practising the piano underneath our room.

Room Tip: Don`t stop in room seven.
