“Superb Facilities & service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2011

We were recommended through Taunton TIC. On entering the building we were greeted by Ian in an immaculate & well decorated reception area; our room was very clean comfortable & well appointed. The bathroom was of a standard you`d find in a first class hotel. The full english breakfast was well presented & served in a very clean & tidy dining room.
This is an establishment that I would highly recommend to others, we will definitely use it again when we return to Taunton.
Well done Brookfield House

“Excellent, spotless presentation. Attentive service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

As per the title, stayed for 1 night as we were attending a party locally. The building is spotlessly clean, older style decor but in immaculate condition. We has Room No 1, faced the main road but with window open road noise was still fine esp later in the evening when going to bed.

Good attentive service but not over powering. Will happily return

“Nice Friendly B&B”

I stayed for one night on business.
The host was very friendly and welcomming. My room was clean and tidy and my bed was comfortable. I was able to walk to the town easily from the b&b and had a 5 minute walk to a restaurant in the evening.
The full english breakfast was very nice and was served quickly.
Internet access was good. The television also has many chanels.
Would recommend to anyone going to Taunton on business.
It is only a two minutes walk from the court and county hall.

“Staying here totally changed my perception of B&Bs for the better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2009

This was the first time I had booked a B&B as we had, unfortunately, always had a fairly negative perception of what they would be like so we had previously always stuck to hotels (normally the major chains).

However, myself and my wife selected Brookfield House solely on the basis that it was within easy walking distance of the venue at which we were attending a family party and we didn't want the hassle and expense of taxis - as we would be drinking we would have needed one to get back to the hotel and then another to collect our car in the morning.

On arrival at Brookfield House we were immediately impressed by the character of the building and the cleanliness of the entrance and reception area.

Ian checked us in and we went to our room which was of a generous size, spotlessly clean and immaculately decorated. The ensuite shower room looked as if it had been recently renovated and was, once again, absolutely spotless.

The bed was comfortable and we slept well - the road noise mentioned in other reviews was certainly present but we didn't find it intrusive.

Breakfast in the morning was delicious and set us up nicely for the journey back home.

Thank you Brookfield House for making me a 'B&B convert' - as a result of this stay we have since booked other B&Bs and had great experiences there too.

“Spotless B & B, excellent hosts, good food!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2009

My husband and I just came back from a long weekend in Somerset. We stayed at Brookfield House, a charming and spotlessly clean B & B run by Ian and Jill. I have to say, this is one of the best B & Bs we have stayed at. The service was excellent, the food was good (evening meals as well as breakfast), everything we could ask for.

The only negative point for Brookfield is location. It's a good 20 minute walk from the train station, and the only real shop/place to grab a quick drink etc, is Tesco. It's only a few minutes to walk to the high street, so that was okay, but it is along a busy road. Saying that, you can't tell once you are in the house, there was literally no noise from the road in our room and we had a great view of their gorgeous garden. Lovely!

We based ourselves in Taunton, but did not do much in town. Honestly, I didn't see much to do in town anyway. We took a day trip to Glastonbury and Wells, which were both very picturesque. On Sunday, we rode the West Somerset Railway to Minehead and Dunster. I would highly recommend Dunster, it was just magical, like stepping back in time 500 years. If you do go, have your afternoon tea and scones at Tessas, they were freshly baked and really wonderful. Steam trains and medieval villages just go together perfectly!

Ian and Jill were both really friendly and helpful, nothing seemed like too much trouble. We would definitely stay there again if we went back. It was a real pleasure.
