We had a lovely two nights stay at The Shrubbery. Staff were very friendly and the room overlooking the outdoor pool was superb with a large bathroom and lovely furnishings which were all very clean. The only negative point for this hotel is that the view from the roadside doesn't do it justice as the kitchen is on the front rather than being tucked away round the back as you would normally find. Don't let this put you off as it is worth a visit.

We enjoyed a very pleasant weekend break in this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, our room was large, very clean and looked out over nice countryside. The cooked breakfast was excellent.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Lovely old hotel with character, staff were friendly and helpful. One problem was we asked for a quiet room and had been given a room on the side, but it was close to main road, the other alternative was a room on the back, but we were advised that the one night there was a function in the ballroom. We decided to opt for the one on the back, rather than put up with traffic noise, but this was an error as the disco kept me awake until 12.45 am.
However, the room (an executive room, we had a free upgrade) was lovely, large, light, beautifully decorated, lovely views, digital TV on wall and large clean bathroom. The only downside was that there were blankets and a heavy bedspread on the bed and we are used to duvets.
Breakfast was average, waitress was friendly and helpful. However, I am surprised that they are don't use, or advertise that they use local produce, as the bacon and sausage were not very tasty.
Ilminster is an ideal base for touring Somerset and within easy reach of the coast

Me and my boyfriend decided to try a Bestwestern Hotel for the first time this year, and I must say we would definitely go back. We saved up our Tesco Clubcard vouchers and paid for two nights that way, I'm not sure thinking back how much it was per night, but it was more near to the £80 - £90 per night mark.

It was absolutely fantastic! Very clean! Spacious room, lovely bathroom, nice and warm radiator (which was definitely needed in January) which heated up the whole room, the bed was very comfortable and clean, all little touches made so much difference, like having hot chocolate as well as tea and coffee in our room.

Reception downstairs was very friendly and helpful, the general hotel and our room was decorated nicely, it didn't look out of date like some hotels can. Although we didn't eat at the Bestwestern, because prices were abit steep! We found a pub just off a roundabout nearby, about a 3 minute drive in fact, which was really nice also.
