“An extremely underwhelming experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2010

Reasonable room, but no minibar or complimentary water, and no soap without asking for some! Pretty awful impression on arrival, since the scene is dominated by a huge and very basic car park for the adjacent massive nightclub. But the real disaster was the breakfast the next morning. The breakfast room was either too small for the number of staying guests, or the facility was grossly understaffed. At 9 a.m. every table was cluttered with the uncleared used crockery and food from departed guests, no-one clearing these, no-one was available to take guests to a table (because none were cleared?). The breakfast food was completely depleted and very messy, any available hot food was lukewarm at best, very, very slow to be replenished and unsurprisingly, service was very poor. As the queues lengthened, so guests became ill- tempered. The response from the staff at the checkout? Complete disinterest and a fobbing- off by suggesting i write in and complain. Whybother to spoil your precious weekend stay? There are better places. This isn't cheap. Go elsewhere!

“I was pleasantly surprised by Tall Trees”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

The room was adequate & clean. The staff very friendly, communal rooms comfortable as were the beds.

I asked for an extra 2 pillows & got them. I was in room 11 & it was close to both cars.

The only thing I could say is a bit more choice at breakfast, but only with the bread. It was croissants & white bread. I don't do white bread & was not given a choice. It was just brought to me. I would have had wholemeal toast & that was it. If I stayed again I would ask prior to staying. :-)

“Comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2010

More of a B&B than a hotel, but clean and comfy for a one night stay for business.
No noise from Motorway, I was in Room 4. Room was V large and V dated decor, but bed was perfect, and pillows NOT feathers so that was a huge relief for me. Towels were tiny and threadbare and my room just had a shower so not sure whether rooms have baths, so do check on booking. Continental brekkie was fine, no brown bread though, but croissant and tea was superb!

Perfect location for M1 and the owner was very hospitable. Much more personal than a large hotel chain etc... I'd definitely stay again if a room with a bath was available.

“Comfortable and clean. Friendly staff. Decor a little dated.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2009

We stayed in Tall Trees on our way to a wedding in York. The hotel is well situated, about 5 minutes from the M1 and literally borders the M62.

We found the hotel without any problems and were greeted by a friendly member of staff who booked us in and gave us directions to York for the following day.

The hotel's external appearance is good. Inside, the rooms are a little dated but clean. The room we stayed in had a TV that was a little excessively high.

Breakfast was continental but a decent start to the day. We booked at the last minute, on the morning of our journey from London and got a fairly good deal.

“good base for travel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2009

stayed here for just one night, very clean cheap and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and pleasant, breakfast was fine and adaquate. Good place if you want to use as a base for visiting wakefield, castleford leeds and pontefract.. Near to motorway but we didn't find it noisy we would definately stay here again, Internet access was perfect, and wide screen tv,so all in all, couldn't go wrong for the price.Glad i didn't let other bad reviews put us off from staying here.
