“Birthday spa weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

This weekend away was a treat for me from my Fiance for my 21st Birthday. I couldn't have asked for anything better. Such a perfect location, first time I ever visited Darlington and I will go again. What made it extra special is that staff at both the hotel and the leisure centre were absolutely fantastic, great manners, always cheerful, happy to help no matter what and they brought extras up to your room if needed.

We decided to have the breakfast brought up to our rooms, please note they charge £3 for this. Which I personally thought it was a bargain compared to some hotels. We ordered this for both mornings. It was right on time, no earlier or later. The food was hot, fresh and very delicious. Lets say the plates went down empty, They don't come to bother you later to collect the trays and such. They do that once cleaning your room.

We both had several treatments at Bannatynes, swedish neck, back and shoulder massage which included a scalp massage. We also had a facial too. We were both in the same room which was good. Really comfortable, good temperature, good music and lighting too. We felt really relaxed after we left. They don't pile buying their products on to you either. Although I think the Elemis range is rather good. They used Elemis products in the hotel, which were free. The scent was divine. My skin felt lush after the treatments too. I loved how they had a relaxation room, water beds and hot stone beds. Amazing!

I would recommend staying here if you are looking for a hassle free relaxing weekend away. If you are not interested in the Spa, they do free passes for the health club for people staying at the Hotel. Bargain price for 2 for the weekend and all. Was a last minute booking too.

Room Tip: Me and my partner went for the double room, was fantastic. Obviously if you have family, you'd c...

“Really nice hotel, good value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We were at a wedding at a nearby venue and chose this hotel for a 2 night stay. We had a family room which was tasteful, spacious and the layout was excellent. Breakfast we very nice and we ate in the hotel one night out of 2 and have a nice meal. There were a couple of stuffy guests in the dining room that objected to our 3 year old talking (it was 6pm so not late). This was despite the fact she wasn't running around and was really well behaved, just on occasion she laughed a little too loudly for their delicate ears. However, this wasn't the hotels fault and in no way representative of them. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

“Pleasant stay”

We stayed at Bannatynes Darlington on the 10th December 2011. I can only say that although the room was on the small side it had everything you could want. The bathroom was clean and warm. Plenty of water for showers in the morning. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were all very pleasant and polite.

“First Class Wedding Venue”

Excellent- 3 night stay including our wedding. Fabulous is the only word to discribe the whole stay.
All staff were first class, nothing was to much trouble. Every member of staff very professional. Special mention to Jade and Leisha they certainly know how to co ordinate an event.
If you are looking for this venue for a wedding, I cant recommend it highly enough. The day went without a hitch. We have'nt had one negative comment. Our guests are still talking about the day, saying it was the best wedding they have ever been to.
Rooms are great value for money, a variety of rooms were taken by family members no complaints from anyone.

We also stayed for the new years eve gala dinner along with 10 other family members, great night and yet another fantastic meal.

Fab!!!! Cheesecake is the best ever. Wish we could do it all again!!!!!!!!!!!! Would'nt change a thing.

Room Tip: Bridal suite and Executive double rooms have character. Junior suites modern and spacious.

“Nearly Perfect”

The car park is a little bit confusing to locate if you haven't checked a map before setting off.
The staff were very friendly and helpfull
The bar is more of a waiting room for the restaurant so I would suggest heading down the road for a beer.
The only strange thing was that you have to leave your key at reception if you leave the hotel, it felt quite strange and I wasn't sure about leaving valuables in the room but I guess all hotels would have a master key anyway.
One of the best breakfasts I've had in the North East and really nice coffee!

Thank you for choosing to stay at Bannatyne Hotel during your visit to Darlington and for taking the time to provide a review. Thank you also for your very kind words in regards to our service and staff. We will shortly be updating the furnishings within the bar so hopefully next time you visit you can relax and enjoy a drink with us and not be tempted to go 'down the road.' We do stock a wide range of draught and bottled beers and lagers and all at competitive prices. I am also delighted you enjoyed your breakfast, its a brave statement to award it the best in the North East but we constantly receive praise, and I hope the thought of our 'Full English' will tempt you to visit us again where I can assure you of another very warm welcome and a comfortable stay.
Kind regards
