Well, where can I start? From the moment we were welcomed into Bees Knees we felt like our needs and wants were of upmost importance to Shell and Graham. Our bags were taken up to our room whilst we were greeted with tea, coffee and a smile - straight away I knew our stay would be a comfortable and pleasant time.

The establishment had an incredible homely aura, aided by the addition of two wonderful lazy cats who were happy just to relax and didn't get in our way at all. Our room was immaculate and the welcome continued with delicious home made treats, delightful period furniture and the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. The rooms come equipped with a fridge which holds milk for the tea and coffee provided. The en suite bathroom was gleaming and an incrediby comfortable size and the addition of complementary bottled water was a fantastic touch I've never experienced before.

Another point of note is the food, the quality is second to none! Everything is made using locally sourced ingredients - I highly recommend the sausages as they are home made and actually taste of pork! The breakfasts were delicious, with a large selection of choices avaliable.

And to me that's what makes Bees Knees so refreshing - I spend a lot of time away from home in my professional life - and not once have I had the fortune to experience this much freedom of choice.

Id highly recommend this establishment to all who read this, don't settle, Bees Knees is the best bed and breakfast in Poole. The 4 star rating, friendliest landlady finalist and golden egg cup awards are all earnt through hard work and a refreshing change of pace

Great value for money accommodation with a first class breakfast of natural, locally sourced foods. Really clean throughout
Graham and Shell were super hosts, providing home made cakes an cookies as complimentary.
Bedroom was very well appointed with an excellent en-suite
We will stay there again when we are next in Poole

“Definitely not my bees knees”

To start the room was really small not what I would class as a double room.. Within the room we had a small fridge with fresh milk in...great!, but the fridge motor was noisy and running all night...The en suite was even smaller ...good job we were not large people or we would have never fit in the shower cubicle...the toilet seat was also broken .. I have got to say for us Graham and shell did not push the buttons along with the two rather large fat cats that were roaming around!,, breakfast was served in a dining room that was rather cold and I asked on both mornings if I could close the window at £80 for two of us for one nights bed and breakfast we were definitely STUNG by the bees knees...

Sad and upsetting though it is to have our unblemished reputation trounced like this, we have to say that we were waiting for this review to happen.

The reason this guest has given us such a bad review is because we charged her for causing substantial damage in her room and for behaving in a disrespectful and selfish way. Disregarding health and safety and ignoring internal No Smoking Signs.

We are sorry that this guest felt it necessary to lie about things such as the room being small for a double room and being cold in the dining room. All our rooms have been approved by the AA and local fire authority and certainly fall well within the size criteria for a Four Star Highly Commended Guest House. This guest stayed in our Luxury Twin Room as a single occupancy and we fail to see as a single occupant why she felt that the room was not large enough. Dispite the fact that she refers to "we" in her review, she was alone, though accommpanied by her parents who stayed in another room.

On their first morning down for breakfast, it was a lovely day with the temperature being predicted at a lovely 19 degrees. If this guest felt cold, we are not surprised as she had slept the whole night with both large windows wide open. She also arrived down late for breakfast wearing very little & with soaking wet hair. At no time did she ask for the window to be closed.

The only thing she told us was that she was in a rush to get ready to go to the family wedding, and said that she would not stay for breakfast. As a nice gesture we said she was welcome to take a cup of tea or coffee up to her room and if she could hang on for a couple of moments we would make her some toast to take up to her room, which she accepted gratefully.

Because the Bees Knees is our home, and because we have high standards throughout, we have a zero tollerance to smoking in rooms and damage that is caused by irresponsible or willful neglect. We are sorry that this particular individual has further embarrassed herself by adding lieing to her misdemeanors and hope that anyone with a modicom of sense would see that in the four years we have been trading this is the first review that has not been favourable and will see that this is a childish case of spitefull, retaliation with the intention to harm our umnblemished reputation.

“Outstanding in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

We stayed 6th Oct to the 9th October in Graham and Shell's twin room. They looked after us very well. They spoilt us with complimentary homemade cakes and cookies and helped us organise our outings with maps and suggestions on places to go and places to eat in the evenings. Our accomodation was very comfortable and very clean and far exceeded many 4 stars hotels we have stayed at. They are great hosts and deserve the high praise already documented on trip advisor.

Room Tip: The twin room is at the back of the property and was lovely and quiet,
