How they can justify the price of this place is beyond me. I booked over the phone directly and agreed a price for a double room with a breakfast. The next day i was charged over 10 pounds extra for the breakfast, when i informed the receptionist she was quick to reply "I can't do anything" a statement which sums up the attitude of the majority of the staff. The food is shockingly expensive and shockingly poor quality. The room was tatty and dated, and i could hear every word spoken in the room next door. Good luck if you expect a warm shower - there are just two settings, ice cold or scolding hot. The hotel is poorly located with no amenities nearby, forcing you to get robbed by the restaurant. I thank the lord i only had to stay in the dive for one night. I recommend saving your money and staying in a homeless shelter for free. you'll get a better nights sleep.

Stayed here on business for one night. Staff were really friendly and helpful and had a very good dinner in the restaurant. Had a four-poster, execuitive room at the front which was really nice, but the bathroom was a bit dated. Also, there was a party on and guests stood outside in the carpark talking loudly, but there's air con so you can shut the windows and then it's not too bad. You probably don't want a room near the function room though if there's something on, as music was quite loud. Use of David LLoyd Health Club about a 15 min drive away (not 5 mins like it says on their website) was useful too. All in all a good hotel, but I wouldn't want to be having a wedding/ special party here as it's not really remarkable.

I was lucky enough to attend the new year Eve bash at the thistle hotel. The room were old the bathroom small and 1970's style but the party was great. Music up to 5am, breakfast until 1pm! friendly staff too. Many thanks. See you next year!!

I attended a dinner/xmas celebration at this hotel with concern having read the other reviews. I wish I had stayed at home. In fact it was so bad I can't even be bothered continue. Try the other hotels in the area there are plenty of them offering much better service and value.
