Driving to this hotel through the one-way roads of Ipswich you may wonder where you are headed, but it's a most pleasant surprise when you arrive. We arrived on a busy Saturday and when we found it there was a member of staff on hand to help us find a car parking space, which was useful. The service at check-in was good and our room, which overlooked the marina, was a good size, very smartly furnished and one of the most comfortable I've stayed in. The meals were excellent, as was the bar service. I'd definitely stay there again.

Ask for a quayside view table and take it all in. Beautiful harbour setting, smart decor and restaurant, very good 4* service, lovely efficient staff and fine dining and wine with a well stocked bar. This hotel is connected to the Angel Hotel in Bury St Edmunds and both never disappoint. Both impressive. Excellent sourced local food, well prepared and excellently presented. Brilliant location for a business lunch. Also a hotel for your clients, although I have not stayed there

We celebrated my sister's 40th with a celebratory lunch here with our husbands. Bar and restaurant are superbly decorated - very original and interesting, and the service was good. The food was sublime! All 4 of us were delighted with our choices, not a bad dish amongst the 12 (3 courses!) we had and some really interesting and inspired dishes. Really looking forward to my next visit and plan to stay overnight next time - if the hotel is anywhere near as good as its restaurant it will be fantastic!

We stayed at the Salthouse last Tuesday and thought everything about this hotel from the service , decor, location was really impressive , but special praise must go to the staff who were superb.
